Which school should I apply?

I'm a student of China, in a university which is ranking 3th in China.
And below is my situation:
avarage score:80
has internship in a court of China
has a part-time job as a assistant legal adviser for 1 year
has a intetnship in a company responsible translation
now i'm having a internship in the Supreme Court of China
Moreover, I have 4 recomendation letter: one from the dean of my law school; one from a proffesor of Brigham Young; one from my boss of a company; one from my boss of the Supreme Court.
I have 2 publications.

However, I only get 84 in my TOEFL iBT! I know this is too low for applying a law school, but I think there is not enough time for me to re-take it.
Which law school should I apply?

I'm going to apply for these universities: Cornell; Indiana; Illinois; American; Loyola; Miami; Hawaii; Minnesota
Do I have the chance to be accepted by these universities?

Nevertheless, I will re-take the IBT in Jan,2008, but it is too late for applying I think, because it will cost about 1month for sending the new report to universities.

I hope someone can give me some advice!
Thanks very much!
And Merry Christmas!

If English was your medium of instruction during the first law degree, TOEFL is waived by several schools in USA.

You are on the right track and has a wider choice of law schools; you may also consider applying to Vanderbilt and Washington University in St Louis - both are in top 20.

Many of the schools have Intensive English Language courses; you may still make your application with an option to join the english language course during Summer before starting of LL.M course in Fall.

The Hawaii LL.M. program offers two Freeman Foundation Fellowships for strong candidates from China, Cambodia, Indoniesia or Vietnam. The Fellowship covers tuition and most living expenses.
The University of Hawaii gives each LL.M. student a lot of attention and organizes many special events for LL.M. students througout the year, including a hike of Diamond Head with the law school Dean.

The University of Hawaii also permits LL.M graduates to transfer into its 3-year J.D. program. Several of our LL.M. students have spent an additional two years to earn a J.D. and have gone on to take the Hawaii State Bar Examination to earn their attorney licenses.

Hey! I think that the university is able to make exceptions for some students that haven't passed the TOEFL test. Contact the LL:M Director at the Law School. I recommend this law school and the LL.M program is great! I'm an LL.M myself.

Hi,
I'm from Argentina, graduated from a T1 University, best 5% of my class, 4 year work experience in taxation, LLM in taxation in Argentina. What are my chances of being accepted at NYU, Columbia, Georgetown, BU, Florida, Miami and Virginia?
Do you know if this universities are granting scholarships right now?
Thanks!

Hi dlzm,

I applied to AU and got in for the spring semester. Honestly, if you get an 84 for TOEFL, there is a possiblity to get conditional admission. They have a course called English for Lawyers that students who receive lower than 93 TOEFL had to take. I have to take it because I got a 90.

If you have good grades and good letters I think it should be ok. AU is a great choice and good option for business law or human rights law...which is what I'm focusing on.

Good luck!!!

Pardon my ignorance, but what is AU? Are they offering scholarship for Filipino students? I am really scouting for a full scholarship. Hopefully, I get accepted in Hawaii. My TOEFL is above 100. Is this a good one?
