If you are looking to work in a good law firm after the LLM and to make good networking during the LLM, is Yale a good option? I mean, they are very interested in accepeting only those students that have an academic interest. Students with academic interest tend to be proffesors, and not to work as lawyers. So, how do law firms look these? and, on the other hand, you will network with future proffesors? (in my understanding that is not a good networking if someone then wants to work in a law firm)

In my opinion, the requirements for JD and LL.M are totally different.Sun Dec 30, 2007 04:11 PM No doubt Yale is one of the best law schools in the world. However, LL.M at Yale is meant for people who want to go to academic world; All the dignitaries mentioned above probably went to Yale for a JD and not for LL.M. Not only YALE, but several other law schools also prefer LL.M candidates who intend to pursue a career in academics and not law practice. |

The LL.M. program at Yale Law School is intended for students who plan to pursue an academic career. Sun Dec 30, 2007 05:55 PM However, it doesn’t mean that it’s not a great place for business networking. Each year, some students from the LL.M. Program at Yale Law School apply for a job in large US law firms with international business interests and are very successful in finding jobs in these law firms. In my view, you should apply to this program only if you are interested in pursuing an academic career but the fact is that after this LLM you can go everywhere. Please see the following guide made by Yale Law School for more details (especially Chapter 8, p. 27). www.law.yale.edu/documents/pdf/CDO_Public/cdo-07-L… [Edited by stan2007 on 30 Dec 2007] |
