Hi guys and girls,I'm a young italian professional, 27 years old; I work as an associate for an italian independent Law Firm, leader on the italian legal market.I would have some information or also opinions relating the above indicated LLM.It seems to be very interesting, specially for the level of integration between accademic matters and professional skills, and also for the relation with the economics and business administration matters. I think that could be a really usefull experience for a business lawyer at the purpose of implementing its own professional profile.I will appreciate every contribute from you on this matter.Kind regards,Andrea

You should try the LLMK program at Northwestern School of Law and Kellogg Business School.

It’s a 1 year program, ideal for business lawyers, and by far much better than the one with the Instituto de Empresa.

What do you think specifically about the LLMK? What do you know about it? What's the average age of the students admitted? So, I'm sorry for my repetitiveness, but I will really appreciate some information in deep about it.

I saw the LLMK program in the website.
It seems to be very interesting and also very expensive.....
Any idea relating to the average age of the students in this LLM? In brief, it is a program for professional business lawyer (at least 4 years experienced) or a graduation in law specifically oriented in business?

Comparing the Executive LLM and LLM/K is like comparing apples to oranges.

Both are strong law and business programs, but they are intended for completely different student profiles. The LLM/K is a full-time program in Chicago, while the Executive LLM is for working lawyers who can’t take a whole year off to get their LLM.

As I see it, you need to think carefully about your circumstances, ambitions and career plans when considering graduate law study in the US. If I had to give a rough breakdown of options, it might look something like this:

"I want an LLM to advance my professional career but can’t take a year away from work" = Executive LLM

"After my LLM, I want to take the NY bar exam and maybe work in the US for a year or so before returning to my own country" = Full time LLM

"I want to work permanently as a lawyer in the US and compete on an equal basis with US-trained lawyers" = JD

Now, which is better – an apple or an orange? Only you can answer that one.

Hi Harvey,

thank you for your post. I appreciated your reference to oranges and apples :).

After some weeks of posts (you have to consider that the board was created one month ago) at now I can appreciate much better the differences between the before mentioned LLM.

So, I think that my goal should be a Full Time LLM. Actually I'm oriented to the LLMK. What do you think about?

Well, I think if you want law and business both and can take the whole year for full-time study, the LLM/K at Northwestern Law should be on your "A List" of programs.
