Hi,

I intend to apply to LSE but I have a little difficulty in filling out the application sheet. I know my question does not really fit here, but since some of you got already positive answers from LSE you might help me. How extensive were your personal statements?
And does anyone have an idea what to fill in hear :"Degree type and class/grade of degree in the standard format of your degree eg Economics BA (Hons) 2:1; GPA 3.7/4.0; A+; 90%; or 1.5/5.0" if I have a German first state exam?

Thanks very much for your help!

My personal statement was 1200 words. As for the degree type, I really have no idea where your german first state would fall.
Best,

I applied November 29th and I'm still waiting. my guess is - because our '8 weeks' takes in the christmas vacation period, we might have to wait a little longer than applicants who don't get caught in a holiday period.

I'm glad you phoned them - I just think we have to sit tight. Good luck.

Hi .... today my application status reads:
A decision has been made on this choice and is being processed. Processing involves checking by a senior member of staff, and occasionally verification of one or more details by your Department. Most decisions will be finalised and appear here within one or two working days (remember to allow for weekends!), however if we require clarification from the Department your status will remain unchanged for longer periods. No further information is available until all checks have been completed, and the decision will be posted here first.

Can anyone tell me ....what can i expect after this ?????

Another thing is that I happily noticed that they accepted a copy of the TOEFL score-report. It feels good not sending money to the overcharging TOEFL-people...

have been on the waiting for 6 weeks now. Somewhere it is said that it takes 6 weeks for the application to be reconsidered but somewhere it is said that it is 8 weeks. So I think that we have to wait little more. But honestly I thing that all those people who were not accepted were put on the waiting list. I wonder if someone´s application has been rejected...

Hello,

I went thru the specialism of UCL, LSE, KCL; it appears UCL has a clearly thorough list of specializations. I found both LSE and KCL's to be quite mangled and vague.

Can anyone provide their insights on this. Can LSE be more hyped internationally than UCL?

Hey,
I don't if this helps. I wrote an email to LSE on 15th January asking if there is still a possibility in applying and I got the answer that they are still open for applications. So I assume that in any case applications arriving until the middle of January have a chance. Good luck!

Wow! All these posts look very discouraging, because I applied only on Jan.25. Nevertheless, I still hope that there is a chance for admission.

I am a European attorney who got LL.M in the US, then got admitted there in two states and now applied for LSE LL.M. It was my understanding that under circumstances, I don't need to submit TOEFL results. Can anybody who were in the same situation and whose application has been reviewed, tell me if I am correct? If not, I will have to search for my old results.

This question is for those who have already received offers: Do you think LSE puts any weight into work experience?
In case with US LL.M programs, too many years of diverse experience were less appealing than 1-2 years of specialized experience.

Thanks.

Hey...Got an "unconditional offer" status yesterday...My application was "complete" on Nov 20, so that wait was a killer! Big relief though...

Along with that, I got a message to the effect that -

"It has been determined, based on the standard of your application etc...that you are eligible to apply online for a Graduate Support Scheme..."

Anyone else who has got an intimation like that?? My guess would be that the very best candidates get an outright grant with their admission offers, but others like me might get a kind of second chance....

All the best to those still waiting!

Hi attorney, I personally think that everyone who is not accepted is waitlisted. I have been waitlisted almost for 9 weeks. But the two weeks around Xmas are excluded from the period stated for reconsideration of waitlisted applications as I was told by LSE. After all places have been distributed LSE announces to waitlisted people that unfortunately there are no places left. I think they just do not want to reject applicants and so they do it in this way. But on the other hand I noticed on this forum that a year ago one waitlisted guy had been offered place. So still there is a chance!!!

Hi Guys,
I dont know how much of a consolation this is going to be, I know what must be going through everyone's mind at this point of time. I am at present doing an LLM at LSE and I must tell you guys that sometimes things happens very slowly here, they might take some time to make a decision, sometimes considering the large volume of application that they recieve. I am sure everyone must hear something by the midweek of march. Dont lose hope guys, there is still enough time before they make the decisions. Last year many of my friends heard back fomr them towards the end of march and some had got only conditional offers initally, but they are all here now.
If you guys need any help specifically, do not hesitate to contact me.

Hi mrindia

I haven't been able to come up with any plausible reason as to why have they side-tracked my application completely. I applied on the 5th of December which was more than ten weeks ago. There are people with decisions who applied in mid/late December. A waitlisted person above applied on the 9th of January. Finally, i wrote to them today. The unknown is driving me up the wall. Do you think there can be any explanation?

Hi .... today my application status reads:
A decision has been made on this choice and is being processed. Processing involves checking by a senior member of staff, and occasionally verification of one or more details by your Department. Most decisions will be finalised and appear here within one or two working days (remember to allow for weekends!), however if we require clarification from the Department your status will remain unchanged for longer periods. No further information is available until all checks have been completed, and the decision will be posted here first.

G.A. Law,

If I were you, I'd take the IELTS. I got 105 on the Toefl iBT, 2 pts below the 107 required. In the IELTS, I got an 8 when LSE asks for 7.
IELTS is less tiring and you speak with a human being instead of speaking to a computer...

Goo luck!

I have also seen that they have closed the programme for home applicants, what is that suppose to mean... that they are not admitting more home/EU students or that they are not considering anymore applications from these?
I applied on January 30th and heard nothing yet...
