External LLM in UoL- entrance requirements

Dear Sirs,

My name is Mikhail, I am a russian laywer, have been practicing for 10 years in the field of corporate, commercial law and securities. Now I am mostly engaged in international business law, especially multinational companies, international investments and tax planninig. So, I have lots of issues connected to English law and legislation of former British colonies.

As a full-time employee, I am thinking about external LLM programme (in University of London) in the specialisation "International business law" or "Commercial and corporate law"

Could you, please, kindly explain me some entrance requirements?

First of all, what is the meaning of "acceptable university" in rules? I graduated university outside the EU - Law Faculty of Higher School of Economics (State University in Moscow - 5 years). Will it be acceptable or not?

Secondly, is it really necessary to present IELTS of TOEFL certificate as documentary evidence? I don't have certificate, and it will take some time (I just find this programme and wanted to apply before 31 January). I can attach some reference letters from european branches of known international legal firms confirming my experience.

At last, where should I pass exams? I live in Moscow, but have an opportunity to visit London, Can I pass exams in London? Also, can I attend any short courses of programme or even single lections personnally if I have two or three weeks of free time in London?

I am also interested in UoL external program.
But my question relates the program itself.
and is it as good as a on-site LLM
How does the UK Law Firms see the external LLM?
Does it have the same effect on the CV ?

If you were asking me, I would tell you that when it comes to university’s reputation, it’s all relative and I am afraid that I could only offer you a pragmatic view on this front. On the one hand, you will encounter law firms that value distance education. On the other hand, you will undoubtedly encounter the opposite as well. The point that I am trying to make is that in the end, you (as an applicant and as a student) need to be comfortable with the notion of pursuing a distance learning LLM (instead of a traditional one) at the University of London. I think that once you’ve overcome your self-doubts, you would find the learning process to be quite enjoyable.
