I would like to know your comments about the IE-Nortwestern's executve LLM.

It would be very helpful if any of the graduates from the first two editions of the program could provide me with their personal experience, some insights and what they are doing now as a result of the master.

The IE-Northwestern's Executive LLM. Program has opened a doorway of opportunities for me. What better way to meet the challenges of this “new era” than by understanding US common law system? Germans, Mexicans, Russians, Spaniards, Italians (list goes on), all of them collectively in one class comparing the functionality of laws of different jurisdictions. Such debates conducted by highly qualified Professors and discussions among intellectually diversified groups have made my experience a unique and exceptional one. We have debates on various legal issues and business transactions, but what is interesting is the feedback I receive from each one of my classmates. It provides me with an insight on the laws of various countries, a facet extremely important for someone interested in International Corporate Law. In the LLM Program, the residential option allows me to design my own program of study selecting subjects that best interest me; thus expanding my expertise in the field. If you are thinking of admitting to the program, there will be long hours, sleepless nights studying but ultimately I believe that it is preparing you to become a more competitive professional. Recently, I have been invited to attend job fairs in New York and California and have been interviewed by international law firms. The program is truly helping me become a more knowledgeable attorney. Hope this helps……best of luck on your decision……

Your insights are really interesting. I has attended several information sessions so I will take a decision shortly. The thing is that I am thinking of changing my career to a more business role. I guess that the LLM could help but an MBA would help me much more I guess.

By the way, do you plan to take the Bar Exam?

Actually it seems coincidental but I did receive my BA in International Business. In my case, I, too, did have a career change towards the field of Law. I found that IE-Northwestern’s LLM program nicely integrated both my interests of Law and Business. Currently in Northwestern I am focusing more on the legal side so I think if you are going for a career change, I know that Instituto de Empresas (IE) has one of the top notch Business Schools. Really your decision depends on your career path that you have chosen. Best of Luck!

Hi there,

I can only underline and stress the comments carillo made concerning the Executive LLM....(in his list of nationalities he somehow and in a very rude way forgot to mention the Swiss ....)

In my view it is the best possibilty to have your LLM degree without having to leave your job.

Especially the small group of participants and the resulting very interactive discussions with the professor has to be mentioned as an advantage.

Take your time. You can do both in the long run. I did my international MBA at IE Business School 17 years ago (that´s why I am PAPALLM.... and now I have finished my LLM with my good friends carrillo and the Swiss gentleman. Indeed, a great experience.

From my perspective, in today´s legal world (assuming you are thinking about corporate law, finance law, etc) I dual combination of legal and business background it is a key tool to success.

Keep also in mind that more and more you can find excellent programs in EU and US business and law which are becoming more and more flexible.

So, think about that and take your decission.
