i m an indian and have an offer from ucl as well as kcl.........so stilll caught betweem the two..............which onw u think is better amd wht r ur plans for acamodation......

Hey... I am frm india too... I got an offer frm UCL strday and my frnd has also got an offer frm the same. she has also taken the same programme.. i.e LLM in International Business Laws.. n have an offer frm manchester..So meet u ppl ter... N Congrats!! so whr are u ppl put up in India?? N wat r ya plans for accomodation..??

Hey everyone!Wed Feb 13, 2008 04:52 PM I've got a question: I received a conditional offer from UCL but still they only gave me 4 weeks to accept it. Does anyone know what would happen if I accepted the offer but later revoked it? Is there some kind of "punitive fee"? Also, do they request proof of not having fulfilled the condition? (in my case it's the graduation which is still to come) Thanks in advance, Ben |

I was accepted into UCL and LSE-- seems like I'm not the only one who's having a tough time deciding between the two! Still waiting on Cambridge as well, which makes things even more difficult. I am getting mixed responses from firms in terms of which one is more prestigious/better as well...

I have applied on 1 February 2008 to LLM program with UCL, KCL and LSE. Fri Feb 22, 2008 03:33 PM YES, I know that it supposed to be late... but all of the named universities proceeded my applications quite shortly and currently I am under consideration Does anybody know: (i) if UCL wrote the official letter and stated that they will make their decision on me by 11 March 2008, is it REALLY possible?.. I was surprised that they stated the term of 5 weeks and proceeded my application so shortly. Is it their standard reply? as i supposed it would take UCL up to 10 weeks (like LSE) to get the decision as I have applied quite late... (ii) during what period of time does KCL usually response? Thanks all of you for replies and/or comments (if any) |

I am quite surprised with what has happened but need to share this with all. It’s pertaining to my application to UCl. It had reached the registry of UCL on January 18 and even received a confirmatory letter bearing application number and detailing out that the application is complete on January 28. For last one whole month I had been regularly making calls to the admission department and had got same response each an every time “that your application is with the law department and same is being considered”. To my horror and surprise when I called the law department I found that they are yet to receive my application from central registry and apparently the same has been lost in transit. I know that it is easy to say so, but you need to be calm to talk to Admission Department guys. So ok, as I have applied at the same time frames, I should say, that this all sounds strange. But (1) if you called them and they insured you that you application was sent to consideration, they must not take this information from the ceiling. So in their tracking-system it was marked as "sent to consideration", i.e. they have received it and it was completed. (2) Law Department representative might be mistaken or did not hear your ID information clearly – everything might have happened... so take a deep breath and call them again. And do not be terrified to go though your application procedure again. You are a lawyer or what? Consider of it as your first legal dispute and nail them!.. You have you letter telling that you application was submitted automatically after the 2-nd reference was received? So tell them about it... Application manager also saved your application and all supporting documents, it can not be destroyed from the server!.. So you need to get a clear answer (1) what has happened? (2) when they will re-send you application to admission office for consideration (THEY have to do it, not you) and (3) make sure that you still have a time privilege, i.e. that you ARE considered as a student, who applied on 28 January 2008 and not a month afterwards, (4) as it was their mistake, make sure that you receive your answer as soon as possible. It was their fault (so they will have to pay :)) and you have arguments, so win the case! and good luck to you. |

hi everyone.. i have a query mainly 4 the indian partcipants of this forum, as they would b more aquainted with the demands of legal market in india. when do u think is the right time for one to enrol 4 LLM, immediately after doing LL.B. or after acquring some experience in the feild. Fri Feb 29, 2008 01:37 PM would my position, from employment perspective, be more stronger if i have work ex to supplement my LLm degree. i am currently in my final year law, have received conditional offers too but have recently discovered the excessive weightage accorded to work ex by the law firms. so m lil confused.. also would like to receive ur comments n suggestions regarding accomodation in Uk. thanks! |

Brett, Wed Mar 05, 2008 03:59 PM thank you for the information about KCL. I have received information that my application is completed two and a half weeks ago and still have not heard from KCL... Re UCL decision time, you should call them. I have read some where that it takes them about 2 or 3 weeks to deliver the letter on decision. My ackowledgement letter was delivered to me in 16 days. So even before I have got it, I called them and they informed me that they were going to make a desicion on the second week of March. So you really should call them and they may help you... cause waiting is killing sometimes. Good luck. Maria |
