Could anyone help with brief steps to take as i wish to practice law in the UK? I have an LLB DEGREE from an African University.

The UK has three separate Law Societies, responsible for licensing solicitors. One step you could consider is your prefered city or town of practice. It's not particularly difficult to transfer from one country to the next country in the UK, or in the EU as long as you are able to complete the relevant Transfer Test(s).

Thank you so much for the addresses. I didn't know that you simply take a test with a respective law society! I thought you are made to sit in class and write exams afterwards.

Decide whether you wish to practice in Scotland, Northern Ireland or England and Wales. You should then contact the law society within the location you wish to study to find out what their EXACT requirements will be given your own unique circumstance. Ask for the legal education department at one of the three law society websites listed above.

You may be required to sit a two year accelerated undergraduate LL.B. Then you will need to continue studies with a postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice. The University of Edinburgh's School of Law, Legal Practice Unit is one of five places in Scotland offering this programme.

Only on successful completion of your studies and relevant applications it is possible to transfer between countries in the UK and the EU. I hope this clarifies my first post further.

Hi, CMiller. I would appreciate it if you could tell me what reputation Trinity College Dublin has? Compared with Edinburgh, UCL, LSE, etc. How would you rank it? Thank you very much in advance.

Hi Diego, This thread is regarding the steps necessary to practice law as a solicitor, barrister or advocate in the UK.

I'm not sure about Trinity College Dublin, but I'm sure if you started a "new post" asking the same question you'd get a few more people answering it.
