NO WAYYYYY...

Go Durham or Kings.

Be aware that one is in international business field and the other in International Finance. Very different approaches.

I would choose Kings coze it is in London, so jobs perspectives and internships are somehow better.

Hi everybody

I’m really confused; I have unconditional offers to study international commercial (business) law at the universities of Durham, Manchester, Nottingham, but since I’ve being visiting this discussion board I do have the impression that only Oxbridge and the universities of London counts???!!!! I applied for LSE and I will apply for UCL, KCL very soon. I’m really worried about money, I do prefer London but studying there seems to be very expensive!!!

Also I need to know if I can apply for scholarship after receiving offers!!!!

So what do you think? I do need your opinions…..

Thanks

I'll go for King's as well.

Can I use your thread to pose a similar question...?
I have conditionals for:
- Cambridge
- LSE

Thanks!

Well I suppose if you want to do finance you should def go for Kings.

Durham is very good in terms of commercial law. They have their own centre there, and in terms of rankings Durham is above Kings.

Yaiza to answer your question def LSE...

I would have to say King's, the 'rankings' are more a guide for undergraduates, it's well, well renowned that a London LLM will set you in better stead for the future, they have better resources, more contact with firms and generally better prospects. From what my tutor recommends, Nottingham has the best graduate courses and reputation out of the non Oxbridge/London colleges, So I would say King's, then Nottingham.

I agree Brett,

I also know that many leading firms in London have partners, trainees and associates who are Durham graduates.

Of course nothing beats an LLM from London, but Durham is very regarded in terms of job prospects in London firms and this is a fact.

Nottingham might be a good school as well, but in my view not with the same weight as Durham or Manchester.

Hi,
I envy you for gettting lots of offers.

In my opinion,
1. Kings
2.Queen Mary
3.SOAS
The reputation of University of London is much advantage in foreign countries.

If you want to study in UK, the ranking is different from above.

I agree Durham is high level univ.
However, the publicity is just a little bit.....especially in foreign countries.

Hi all,
I attended my llm in Durham in 2006.
Even if no one in my country (Italy) has ever heard about Durham, i've got a position in a leading firm (because, at the end of the day, it's still an llm in uk) and, above all, i spent there the best time of my life.
p.s.: i live in Rome, i don't get easily impressed by other cities. Indeed London never impressed me, Durham did.
Good luck

Hi Pedrinus,
congratulation for your offer and good luck for everything!
In 2005-2006 llm students in Durham were about 110.
Popular lectures were attended by many students, but seminars were usually dedicated to 10-15 students.
