Hey guys, I've officially withdrawn my app from NYU and I'm going to G-town. I like to think I preemptively rejected myself. :-)

It's almost April. I haven't heard anything from NYU. Does it mean my chance is ZERO?

My friend didn't get into NYU until late April / early May last year. The wait was a killer.

In, although I can't decide whether to go. I'm around the top 5-6% at a T2, law review editor, non-tax related work expereince and legal experience. I only had one tax grade when I applied, a B in fed income, but I wrote a good cover letter where I explained that I had overextended myself that semester. I just took Corporate tax and expect somewhere I got something between a B+ and an A. My app went complete around March 15th. I was late because I wanted to be sure I liked corp. tax before I applied.

I liked tax and I'm interested in tax policy, and would ideally work for IRS, maybe after a tax court clerkship. I think if I went that route first, and later decided I needed to make money, firm doors would probably be open.
Any sort of scholarship would probably seal the deal, but I haven't actually gotten the acceptance yet, I just followed the link from this thread and logged in successfully.

I'm acting on the assumption that around top 1/3 get big firm jobs, a handful get tax court clerkships, 1/4 go to accounting firms, 1/5 go to IRS, and the rest are unemployed. Obviously, this is unscientific, but it seems fair based on waht I've read.

I haven't heard anything yet, and my application was complete at the end of January. If I do get into NYU, I'm hoping for a $250 scholarship to cover the cost of the deposit I already paid to Georgetown.

I went complete around March 15th and STILL have not heard anything. Although, some went complete that same time and have been accepted -- I guess I should be scared now! I'm top 35% at a top 25 school, on law review and have a published article.

Has anyone heard anything? Or know someone who has been accepted? rejected? Or spoke w/ the admissions office about decisions?

The only helpful info I have is that the deposit deadline for people already admitted is May 1st, so I'd expect a second wave of acceptances shortly thereafter if the class isn't full.

You can also try to log onto the admitted students website....(its.law.nyu.edu/admitted/login/login.cfm?dest=/adm…).

I'm from a T4 law school, have a 3.4 overall gpa, and a 4.0 in 12 credits of tax classes. Was on law review and also had a great tax-related summer job.

Good luck!
