I am a U.S Resident and I strongly believe that with the right documentation needed at the Swedish Embassy here it won't be a problem for me. The hardest thing for me now is to be accepted. As soon I am accepted I am going to apply for my resident permit ASAP.
I am just wondering are all of you sure you will manage to get a residence permit?

This application period does not give enough time to process your residence permit application before studies begin in the Autumn.

Students from within the EU/EEA will not have this problem

You guys have been doing a great job here. Congrats! I read through the blogs and happily related with the sentiments.

I am from Africa and have been monitoring studera.nu on the admissions as well with much anxiety. T

I fear that guys from this end of the world might have problems securing visas in time for school should an admission finally come their way.

Hi Everyone,

it will be close, but its possible that even with the May 8th date we would still be able to get our visas. The Swedish embassy in the US estimates that the visas will take 3 months to process.

But enough worrying - what program did you all apply to? I applied to Lund Human rights and labour rights. Hope to see you there!

Where part of Africa you from? I am from Liberia but I grew up in the USA and graduated from school in the USA. I think th the consulate might be aware of VHS delay and consider student. It won't be our fault in my opinion.

I got a slight slight change on my studera today - they added a 'selection group' box (its empty in the Swedish one, but it says something in the Swedish version).

To get to the Swedish your pages: log in in English, then click on 'Swedish', then click on left hand menu "Dina Sidor" - then its pretty much mirrored with the English.

Hope you're all having fun in your corners of the world. Are any of you signing the petition from Andrie Neclau about studera?

Good for you. I have been thinking about the 'Merit Rating' issue and wish to speculate as follows: The 'SG' employs the numbers 0-9 for each selection category beginning with academic qualifications. A course that considers only 3 heads of qualifications will therefore bear the MR 000 for the lowest and 999 for the highest merit rating. The first zero meaning no academic qualification and the other two representing other criteria such as work experience, proof of previous academic curiosity and so on and so forth. A course that considers more could bear the MR 0 000 for the lowest and 9 999 for the highest.

Since according to Studera.nu the MR will only be displaced for applicants who have met the basic admission qualification to the courses however, i.e. academic, there would no result in MR that begins with a zero.

I would therefore speculate that an applicant for say the International Commercial Arbitration master course in the University of Stockholm with the MR 999 stands a good chance of admission subject only to class capacity.

This could mean that should there be more candidates with the highest MR qualifications than the class can take the SG could resort to random drawing methods such as the use of computer sorting and those who get selected in those circumstances could be considered to be the 'lucky' ones.

Personally, I have now given the page a break. May 9 appears so far so I will concentrate on reading people's views here and going about my life as a distraction.

Not yet. I personally doubt that anyone will receive a notification of admission before the conclusion of the process otherwise it would not make sense to assess the applications in terms of merit rating.

If that were to be the case what would they do in the event that the remaining applicants turn out to be of extremely high MRs? It would mean they might contemplate 'recalling' some of the 'notifications of admissions'!

Looks like we just have to wait and be happy to receive MR whenever it pops up because at least that means that the applicant is fully qualified for the course subject to space and competition from other equally or more qualified candidates.

I am turning to milk. It is good for the stomach: -)

All the best to you!

Hey everyone... its a new week!

Lund updated their website to reflect the May 8 announcement date - I suppose that makes it official!

I hope everyone is enjoying what they are doing this weekend - I'm studying for final exams (sort of).

Anxiety disappearing? What's your secret?!

I feel like I think about this so much, that on the days I'm not thinking about it, I feel like I'm forgetting to do something.

How goofy is that?

My secret is that I have no choice but to study for exams! Haha. i always go into "tunnel vision mode" during exams, which is a good thing. but my anxiety over waiting for notification has been replaced with the stress of exams--honestly, the waiting was much worse because i can control how much i study! i have no say at all as to when and how the results will come out.

good luck-keep me posted, and I'll do the same!

My MR showed up today for my HR application--999. has anyone else got a MR? does anyone know what it means exactly? I'm confused, because I thought that the university selected the students, so how is the MR calculated?

Wow... I just felt my stomach drop. I just checked and I, too, have an MR...

My MR is 1.

Hopefully, for both of us, they are just place holders. No idea what it means - maybe they are just rankings for how the student ranked their programs (Lund is the only program I applied for - and perhaps you applied for other programs that still haven't come back with their results yet?)

Whatever it is, I hope its not bad for either of us!

Lund is the only program I applied to as well. i had no idea what it meant either, but I don't think that we should pay much attention to it since we'd only be speculating anyway. at least we've made it through the entrance eligibility portion, right?!

Yeah - its good that we know we hit the acceptance requirements.

I read on another website (there's a facebook group dedicated to this process) that Lund has been assigning different numbers under different programs (and some Lund programs have even issued conditional acceptance letters).

I applied for human rights and labour rights. Which one did you apply for?

Napolibo, I've applied to the HR Programme (only the HR concentration) so maybe our MR numbers have absolutely nothing in common! like I said, I'm not going to speculate about it. besides, this coordinated system with VHS is so new that I don't think that anyone, except for the national admissions office, can shed accurate light on it. I have a Swedish friend who told me that Swedes, as a culture, are very honest, but they are reserved, so if you want to know something, you've got to ask straight up! haha-I kinda like that...
