Hi
I have just been accepted to the Masters in European Law at Leiden University. Does anyone know the best way to find accommadtion in the city?I have been in contact with the Housing Office but the places they are offering have very high rent between 500-600 per month. Is this the normal rate?If anyone knows any website I could look up that would be great.

My advice is: do not use Housing Agencies, these bastards will rip you off. Best thing to do is to look for an apartment yourself. It is hard to find a good place in Leiden, though start early and you may succeed. Check out internet sites, like kammernet.nl and etc.

Hey,
I've been accepted to European law LLM at Leiden as well, starting next September. I've been somewhat concerned about the accommodation as well, but decided to go for the Housing Agency....possibly a wrong choice, especially when it comes to the costs, but hopefully it guarantees me a place and saves me the trouble of possibly finding/not finding a good place to stay once I get there.

I agree with tttv - they do rip you off, but if you don't mind trading peace of mind against cost then *some* of the SLS Wonen accommodation isn't too bad. But of course, in shared accommodation it all depends on who you're living with. The apartments offered by SLS are ok - but expensive - and they are central, especially if you study law. Best option is to see what they offer you and then try and ask someone already at Leiden what they think of that place... If I could sort my housing out again, I'd go for the private sector. For what I'm willing to pay to SLS I only get a single room...
