I had been working like real estate agent in Chicago some years ago so I like to suggest to you some ideas:
1. Check with appartment rental agency ( one on Halsted was pretty good );
2. Call local real estate agency or even better to attend their office meeting when everyone there. "Brothers-realtors" know so many things in real estate as well as people around.
3. Post add "looking for rent" in local coffee joins.
4. Check with graduated students if their "old" spots still available.
5. Look in local newspaper "for rent" or "sublease".
6.Call property management companies ( look their number on buildings ). They can tell you what is available for rent in their buildings as well as who looking for sublease their appartment or looking for roomate.

...and CRAIGSLIST!!! Craigslist is by far the most efficient way to find an available apartment or post a 'wanted' situation in most major metro's across the U.S. WWW.Craigslist.org the select Chicago / Housing. Best way to find non-broker fee units without having to pay a months rent worth of cafe lattes at lame @$$ MNC coffee joints pulling tabs off poorly Kinko'ed fliers only to find them already rented.

Best of luck and / or looking for a roomie?

Happyday: Housing at Northwestern

Friends,

I have just finished my LLM at Northwestern and I am moving from Chicago since I got a job in Florida.

I have a studio in the best building in the Chicago area - The Streeter (http://www.thestreeter.com). It is convenient located, near everything and very close to the school (8 minute walk) which is the best for winter.

I need to sublet it from August 2008 to June 2009 which is exactly the LLM period.

I can sublet it furnished or unfurnished.

If you have interest please contact me at m-costa2008@nlaw.northwestern.edu

Best,

Mariana

Dear Mariana,

Reading your post, I'm just curious how you landed your job in Florida from LLM at Northwestern. Was it through their recruitment services?

I'm just curious because I'm debating if I should also apply to some Chicago schools on top of NY/Cali schools.. I'm not sure I like Chicago enough to stay there.

Thanks!
