I have another question:

What do you think, seriously, are the repercussions of withdrawing after commitment? and possibly going to another school ? I know this was discussed before shortly, but what will happen ? Will they do anything ?

Yesterday, I got waitlisted for the General Studies program. Is anyone in the same situation? I wish someone would know how many people are on the list... I am considering whether I should stay on the list or withdraw my application, because thay said their final decision will be made "before the end of May," and I may not have enough time to get my visa until summer.
Thanks for your response.

Hi chezarle

Did you recieve your reply via UPSor through regular airmail?

Does anyone know whether NYU entertains requests for deferring admission by one year?

I have been waitlisted for International Taxation LLM.
I receive the UPS pack three days ago and I have to accept before 1st May.

Do you think we still have chances to receive a scholarship?

Good luck to those who have been accepted!
I'll have to settle with Penn or Georgetown (i haven't made up my mind yet...)

Same here. I just wrote to NYU asking the status of my application half hour ago. Got the same response again.

Thank you for your interest in NYU School of Law.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the Committee will reach a decision on or before the date you specify. This is due to the highly competitive nature of the program and that we expect to receive approximately 2,000 graduate applications this year.

The Committee on Graduate Admissions recognizes that law schools operate on different calendars, and sometimes applicants must decide on whether to commit to another institution before hearing from NYU School of Law; we regret any inconvenience this may cause you.

We hope that you will be able to remain under consideration.

Hello everyone,

It is now safe to assert that the places for NYU LLM has been filled. I initially submitted my application early September and only received a reply today. The response was a rejection. The letter reads as follows:

The committee on graduate admissions has carefully considered your application. I am sorry to inform you that the committee is unable to offer you admission to the graduate programme at the law school.

We hope you will understand that this decision is a reflection of the strenght of our applicant pool, rather than the result of a possible weakness in your application. We reeceive many more applications for admission than we can accommodate each year, and inevitably we must turn away many accomplished applicants simply for lack of space in our program.

Please accept our very best wishes for success in your future academic and professional plans. We genuinely appreciate your interest in NYU school of law.

I would say this is probably a standard letter and is probably issued to everyone upon rejection. Do not be disheartened at this post but pick yourself up and seek plan B.

Once again congrats to those who gained admissions and commeserations to those who didn't.

I have also applied for this LLM and have not received any answer yet. They said that the Commitee currently holds my application and are aiming to release decisions in this week or the following.

Congratulations!!! When did you receive the letter (if you don't mind me asking)?

Also, I've heard good things about the Corporate Law program. Are you allowed to switch from one LL.M program to another once you are accepted? How does that work? The reasona I'm asking is because I'm wondering if the admissions people look at all the LLM applications together, or whether you are judged in relation to other applicants who have applied to your specific LLM program?

Thanks so much for any info!

Sure! I`ve received it on March 14 by fedex. it was postmarked by march 6. I haven`t asked them about switching the program, but it is said on their website that we can change our program they will allow it if there are available sits. if you don`t get the allowance you are still remained on your original program. I have no exact info regarding their admission process, but I think that they do seperate applicants to the specific programs.
Are you from the states?

So.. they are already placing people on the wait list? Does this mean if you haven't heard anything you are either rejected or waitlisted?

Thanks!

I'm not sure what it means. I spoke to the NYU admissions staff the other day and they said they just submitted my application to the committee. So, they haven't even gotten to some applications yet. I've been amazed at how slow the admissions process has been...
