I called HLS admissions earlier. Just got this email.

I am writing in response to your call requesting an early admission decision from Harvard Law School. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide you with a definitive answer at this time. If you have scholarship and or admission deadlines from other schools and cannot get an extension until March 21, 2008, then I would have to strongly advise you not to give up your other offers for the possibility of being admitted to Harvard Law School, especially since we will not be able to provide you with our financial aid decisions until early April.

Is this a rejection? Anyone got other response?

Got this e-mail yesterday:

Dear ___________,

I am writing in response to your email requesting an early admission decision from Harvard Law School. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide you with a definitive answer at this time. If you have scholarship and or admission deadlines from other schools and cannot get an extension until March 21, 2008, then I would have to strongly advise you not to give up your other offers for the possibility of being admitted to Harvard Law School.

I hope this will help you make an informed decision. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best for the coming year.

Well, does anyone here knows if it's a polite rejection? I feel that it's probably not such a good sign, since some people were already offered early admission in responce to their e-mail's about other deadlines...

Well.. I think this is their particular format of answering the students...and its really is not a negetive reply... only thing left now to do is to wait till 21st march...

So much for trying to save 500 quid. Has anyone actually got offer of admission to HLS in response to your request for an early decision? Last year thread suggests some ppl got early admission but told to keep it to themselves. Is it possible that ppl who get the above email are on waiting list?

I do not think there are any decisions earlier than 21st. The mail they have sent conveys no rejection.

I think that if you look at previous years threads, it's evident that HLS devide applicants that ask for an early dessicion into 2 groups:
1. Those who are admitted, and get admission email.
2. Those who receive the Wait/accept e-mail, and later on get rejected.

Hence, i think it's safe to assume that the above stated email is a polite rejection. Anyone who doesn't realize that is simply denying the obvious.
Congrats to those who are admitted and good luck to you all.

Does anyone for sure received and answer from HLS? I received the same email of ESP-LLM... and I agree that this might be a polite rejection. I don´t think that If they are going to accept you, they will answer that. They usually compete for those you are admitted.

How did you know that? Do these lucky people know anything about Harvard's financial aid decision?

I got a slightly different reply, just saying that someone would be in touch as soon as possible, but not advising me to accept other offers. That said, no one has been in touch :) Prob. just best to hold out until the 21st or whenever, specially as they don't make their financial decisions till early April regardless.

Hey Dane,

I also sent an e-mail to Harvard abou the deadlines. At first I got your e-mail and 24 hours later I got the standard e-mail the other llm-guide members received.

And still no third e-mail yet!

From last year posts I thought that HLS send another email informing about coming events,

It’s amazing how Harvard wants to make us explode of stress.

I believe we should stop stressing ourselves.
Let's wait until March 21, 2008 and let's see what happens!

Exactly!
It's better to stop doing divination concerning the date of the decision or the meaning of the slightiest sign coming from HLS...
The fact is that nobody really knows, and after all, it doesn't really matter since it won't change the results (except of course for those who already received an offer from CLS,...the early review is in fact really not so good that it looks like!!!)
