I don't think it is possible since Harvard send email and they don't call everybody who get in the programme...

Hey guys. There seems to be some confusion here about the whole HLS issue. I'll try to clarify to the best of my ability.
A. yes, it's true. HLS has informed numerous applicants about their admission (My guess almost everyone who got admitted already knows).
B. No, they dont call. They send you an e-mail and inform you that youv'e been admitted, and ask you to be quiet about it untill the 21.

Just be patient and wait for the 21.3. there is nothing you can do right now anyway.

Well!! it surely seems strange and unlikely that an Institution of the calibre of Harvard might like its students to keep such a thing as admission a secret...

Hi,

I asked Harvard for a early decision and recieved the following mail

First I received a mail like this,
Dear _________,

We are still processing decisions; however if you have been offered admission from another LLM program (or programs), please provide us with any deadlines you are facing and we will do our best to provide you with as much information as possible.

Admissions decisions will be mailed out; no e-mail notifications will be sent.

Kind regards,
Admissions staff

I wrote back to them that I have received admission with scholarship from a leading law school but I would like to keep it confidential. However I would be greatfull if you could inform me the decision before March 15,08.

for which I got a reply like this in the same evening,

Dear ________

Dear _________

I am writing in response to your e-mail requesting an early admission decision from Harvard Law School. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide you with a definitive answer at this time. If you have scholarship and admission deadlines from other schools and cannot get an extension until March 21, 2008, then I would have to strongly advise you not to give up the other opportunities you’ve been offered for the possibility of being admitted to Harvard Law School, especially since we will not be able to provide you with our financial aid decisions until early April.

I hope this will help you make an informed decision. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best for the coming year.

Sincerely,

Valentina

Valentina Perez

Coordinator, Admissions and Financial Aid

Harvard Law School Graduate Program

Could any one please tell whether this is a polite rejection?
or just a casual mail.

Best Regards,

Shobhan

Two of my firends were called to be informed their admission, followed by emails.

Hi Shobhan,

That was the exact sequence of events with me as well. Due to Oak's statement and the fact that Harvard really asks us about our deadlines, I guess it's almost safe to assume HLS would release acceptance e-mail to those with pending deadlines but strong credentials.

Moreover, I notice that many of our fellow llm-guide members have been oddly distant from this conversation, what might imply their previous admission. I know many will say final decision is to be released only on March 21st, but why in heaven would HLS send out e-mails advising people not to give up other opportunities being offered for the possibility of being admitted to Harvard Law School and tell this should help us make an informed decision?

I saw the questions regarding my previous post. Look guys, first of all, Harvard informs candidates pre the 21.3 for years now, it isn't something new, and there is nothing fishy or dishonorable about it, they just trying to prevent a chaos and keep it as orderly as possible. When strong candidates ask for early decisions due to pending scholarship deadlines, HLS do inform them in order not to "lose" those candidates.

Please understand, that the fact you received the regular mail from valentina perez doesn't mean rejection, but it means that chances are you are not going to be admitted, just wait for the 21/3 and see, the chances, slim as they are, are still there.
Good luck

Pavel,

Did you ask Harvard for an early decision or they just sent you an unprovoked e-mail? If not, maybe HLS has decided to release results today. Last year they e-mailed the decisions some days before the date previously announced.
