Competition law - Career guidance
Hi everybody! Just coming here to get some info about my academic/professional possibilities, namely info about Masters I could apply so that I can improve my chances in achieving my goals...Fri Feb 29, 2008 12:35 PM I finished a 5-year Law Degree in 2006 in Portugal. In 2006-2007 I did a Master in European Union Law (with a 3 month EC competition law module included) in the Universidad Carlos III of Madrid - I finished that Master with the first or second best grade of the 2006/07 Edition. In 2007 I did a 3 month internship at the EC Court of First Instance. I speak fluently 4 languages (Portuguese, Spanish, English and French). I'm 27 years old. My goal is: work as an EC Competition Lawyer either in Brussels, London, Madrid, whatever...(I'm not picky about the country...). Simple as that! Since I finished the internship (almost 3 months now), I've sent a lot of applications to junior lawyer positions and internship positions in Law offices in Madrid and Brussels. No luck so far... So, I'm not desperate yet, but about to... The info I need: should I consider another Master in Competition law? If so... ...I've been browsing European Colleges web pages and this forum as well, and I got to the conclusion that I could try to apply to either College d'Europe (right now, I could only apply to the 2009/2010 Edition), or Kings College of London (www.kcl.ac.uk/schools/law/gradstudy/llm/prog/specl…) Competition Law LLM. So, any tips about this LLMs in particular (or any other one that could fit my needs)? Or shouldn't even consider another Master and keep waiting for a chance to start working...? I think Coleurope would be a great idea. You could also considering applying to the EC stage in DG comp o legal service. The fact is that comp law is quite full in general and it is difficult to get in.
