I think we could start a group of the accepted ones, in order to discuss common problems.

Have someone heard about Stanford and Harvard? I doubt that someone here is going to turn down Yale to go to these places, but I am curious to know about their decisions.

Well done! I was reading last year's threads on Yale, and it seems that they call all the admitted applicants first. If you are not admitted, you could wait until as late as April to receive a rejection letter. It would be great if someone could call them up and find out if all the admissions decisions have been made yet. I'd call them, but I called them yesterday, and forgot to ask. I don't wish to be perceived as hassling them.

Good luck to all those still waiting. The admissions rate is only 8%, so its no shame getting a rejection!

As for the rest of us, who have applied to Yale and haven't received the phone call, is there anyone out there, who knows how Yale notifies rejected people? Are we supposed to receive a rejection e-mail, a rejection letter by post or even no notification at all?

So being admitted to Yale is the greatest achievement a lawyer can expect... OK, I think I've heard it all...
Guys, just for you to know... it is great year, you will have a wonderful time and you will remember it forever. That's for sure as it is also for sure that anybody coming to the US for a studying period will feel the same.
Honestly I never though that being admitted to any school was a GREAT achievement as it is not entirely depending on you... Get good grades wherever you go, that is going to be an achievement. Try to be better every day in your life and you'll be able to pride of yourself... but don't make acceptance to a law school your greatest success because then you will end up being a mediocre.
BTW congratulations on your admission!
Best,

Rej

Congratulations again to all who got admitted. It is a really, really great achievement. I am wondering, whether any Europeans got admitted. I did not see any European mailing in the Discussion Board. Is it possible that they release the decisions for different continents at different times? Perhaps the responsibility has been devided between different people in the administration.

Hey am2008, that's what I've noticed as well! No European posted that he/she was admitted to YLS. It's strange. Reading last year's thread on Yale admissions, I saw that during the first 2 days of phone calls only Europeans posted that they've been admitted. And it was impressive that the first 3 to post, were actually Swiss! Then, people from Asia and Latin America started posting en masse.
I guess then that Yale really divides the phone calls between different people in the office. Let's hope that next week Europe will received the phonecalls!

I made a call to the admissions office today to find out about their admisions decisions conveyed to international students. they told me to wait for another week and that no decision has been taken so far. I quoted the information given on this thread about the calls received by candidates on March 7th; they categorically told me that no calls have been made till date and that decision is yet to be taken.

it is shocking and surprising. many of our friends have mentioned here about receiving a call from the admissions office.

to avoid any hoax calls, I would request my friends to confirm by making a call to the Yale graduate admissions office at (203) 432-1696

I made the call today i.e. March 10th around 1.00 p.m.

Now this is getting really confusing.... I really can't believe that there is someone, who collected somehow the phone numbers of highty qualified applicants, who have already been admitted to other top Law Schools (AlexGuate to Chicago, Mr. Myzptzik to Michigan), and called them pretending to be a Yale officer. How did someone managed to do this? Where did he find the phone numbers? And why did he or she call only highly qualified applicants who anyway stood high chances of being admitted to Yale?
Another member of the board stated that he also received a financial admissions e-mail from Yale. How could he or she be fooled through e-mail (I mean the yale e-mail address can't be tricked).
I'd say nriattorney that the person you talked to at Yale didn't know about the fact that some phone calls have already been made. Perhaps some (not all) decisions have already been made and the admitted students where notified by phone without the person, to whom you talked to today, knowing about the phonecalls. This is the only plausible exaplanation. The "hoaxing calls" theory or another theory claiming that AlexGuate Mr.Myxptzik, verdad, kobayashi are persons who are playing a joke to the rest of us are just conspiracy theories, which cannot be real.

Well... first of all, congratulations to those admitted to this prestigious program. I am a Mexican, already admitted at Gtown, Cornell and UPenn. However, all of this posts saying (speculating) that the calls have been made according to the applicants' "geographical regions" has concerned me a bit, since it seems that the "Latin American Region" has already been notified. Anyways... congrats, again, and the best of luck for those who wait for the notification.

bonafide: Yale admissions!!!!

The person nriattorney spoke to in the admissions office would have known enough whether or not any offers had been made.

The reasonable explanation for this latest turn of events is that one half of the thread is not telling the truth.

On the one hand, you might say that more people are on the "admissions made" half than nriattorney alone on the "no admissions made" half. But on the other, nriattorney is a longtime member of the board with many posts.

Inconsistencies between the two Yale threads - namely, the first person claiming to have received a financial aid email, but later posts not mentioning this - suggest a hoax.

Also, nriattorney's claim that Yale said to wait for a week would put the decision date in line with previous years'. If calls really were made on 5 March, that is about three weeks early.

It is impossible to know anything except that someone is lying and thereby undermining the value and reliability of this site.

Shame.

L&E-pil: Yale admissions!!!!

I've talked through P.M. with AlexGuate within the scope of the admissions of UChicago. We were both admitted to UChicago and we exchanged views and opinions. He seemed to be an honest person. I really can't see the reason why he would lie to us. Mr. Mxyptzik is also a person to whom I've talked within the scope of Michigan admissions. He is also a reliable person I think.
I would agree that persons with 1 or 2 posts who just joined the thread to say that they were admitted to Yale could actually be liers. But look at the posts that AlexGuate and Mr. Mxyptzik have made since they joined. They are normal persons, who were normally admitted to other Law Schools as well. What's the reason for this kind of persons to suddenly fool us that they have been admitted to Yale?
hjscotland, as well, who said that he called Yale's admissions office, said that the officer said that not all decisions have been made yet. He didn't say that the officer said that no decions have been made. Just not all decisions.
And if you look at the Yale admissions thread of 2006 you'll see that the first person to receive a phone call posted on the 5th March! So this date is usual for Yale to show up with decisions.
I really can't believe that all this is a joke. I've talked to these guys and they are ok.

L&E-pil: Yale admissions!!!!

After carefully looking at the thread again, I have ascertained that we really are in front of a fraud by "members" of the llm-guide.
One of the persons who posted that he was admitted deleted his account and all the messages he posted in the "Yale admissions" thread. If you click on what is left of his nickname (just a "-" is there if you look carefully) and enter his profile you will see that his last post was last year in a thread where he was accused of fooling people pretending to be a HLS student! This guy has done it before. Go to his profile to see.
AlexGuate to whom I've talked to before, strangely changed his name to Alexander007 and also deleted all of his posts in "Yale Admissions" thread.
2 of the 6 persons who claimed to have received a phone call from YLS disappeared and deleted their messages. All the other persons apart from Mr. Mxzyptik, joined llm-guide just to say they were admitted to Yale. So, it could be the same person who joined with 2 usernames to fool us.
Another query I have now. A chinese applicant claimed that he received a phone call by Yale on 6:21 pm EST. When it is 6:21pm at Yale it's 7:21am in China. Do you think that Yale would call an applicant that early in the morning? People haven't gone to their office on 7:21am.
What are your thoughts? Do you think that we're victims of a bunch of people who are just trying to laugh at us?

MikifromItaly, you are absolutely right. And we should also try and relax. I have also applied to YLS and though having been accepted at Columbia I am anxiously waiting for YLS's answer. However, let's keep calm and relax. They are going to make their decision and whether they make it a week earlier or later will not alter anything. I think we have all got enough work to do in our respective fields of study and do not need to worry about whether anyone has been playing a joke or not. Just let them be stupid if they feel the need to do so.
Good luck to you all

I would request any of the candidates interested to join YLS make them a phone call and post here the answere he/she receives. With one or two cross checks we can ascertain the true position.

Hi all,

I really did receive a phone call from Yale on Friday last week telling me i had been admitted. They said they had been trying to get hold of me for two days (I'm from South Africa and i didn't have cellphone signal). From my perspective, it is definitely not a hoax by LLM Guide members and i agree with the earlier post that there is no reason to suspect it is a hoax by other people. The person who phoned me not only had my phone number but all my other details as well. I haven't yet received anything in writing, but they told me they would send documentation in the next two weeks. I don't believe that there is any fraud involved.

Congrats to all those who have been admitted!

I have chosen to delete my posts, change my username and remove myself from this absurd discussion. The level of paranoia is ridiculous.
I understand many are anxious to receive news from YLS but c´mon relax.

I would respectfully request to be left out of this discussion once and for all.

Hi, I've just read the whole story.
I've received a call from Ms. Dino last week (4/march), I'm in, but I am in process of applying for financial aid so I am still a little worried. It is very probable that they've called us before...

I just called the Graduate Programs Office to find out.
They've told me that not all decisions have been made. I asked her "that means that some of them have already been made then?". She said "yes". She told me that we should wait until next week and that still have chances of being admitted.

I again made YLS a phone call a few minutes back. They repeated that decisions shall be made next week. However, they did not deny that some, though not all, candidates might have been informed by phone. Interestingly, they also said that all the candidates shall be informed simultaneously by mail next week.

I think there is no 'hoax' theory here; just some confusion because of the unclear and selective communication emnating from YLS office.

I would again congratulate all the candidates who have received phone calls; and others may just relax and wait for their decision by next week.

I think Alex is right. This thread reminds me of last year's witch hunt "Beware of frauds ("Kay" is not an HLS student)" - http://www.llm-guide.com/board/28785 - where the prosecutor (LLM-Guide veteran "josepidal") became the accused and never showed up in the board again.

EL80: Yale admissions!!!!

I think Alex, and all other YLS admitted who deleted their posts after this discussion are right in doing that. Personally, I believe that this forum is ment for LLM applicants to share their experiences with eachother in an informal way. And although in the past a case of fraud came out, I don´t think it is right to call the graduate admission officer from any law school to " quote the information given on this thread about the calls received by candidates on March 7th". Such informal and personal quotes can damage a forum user who uses a nickname or other information that can identify him/her. That´s my opinion and congratulations to all!

Mr. Mxyzptlk: Yale admissions!!!!

Hi Guys,

I am sorry to disappoint the "conspiracy theory" believers, but it was not a joke. I know everybody is very stressed (I have been there too) but that isn't a good reason to attack people who share news (nor the admission officers!!). You should know that if you worked hard in the past and made a good application, the good news should come soon.

Please, if you don't believe it, keep it to yourselves and stop writing me. To the other YLS admitted, congratulations and let's meet in another forum.

Kobayashi_08: Yale admissions!!!!

I had the same concern that EL80 has now.

I took the special care of changing my nickname (actually, I signed the service again) before giving the news because I was affraid that someone would call Yale and say something unpleasant. By the way, Kobayashi is the character from "The Usual Susupects" movie.

For those of you not called yet, I think there is two possibilities:

- You were rejected.
- You were put in a waiting list.

What I have heard is that both information will last long to reach you. Even if you were put in a waiting list, the chances that you will receive an offer are quite low - very few people turn down the Yale offer. But to be in the waiting list means that you are a really strong candidate and you should apply again. I know people that, even receiving a plain rejection, got accepted in the next year.

Good lucky, be cool.

I think Alex, and all other YLS admitted who deleted their posts after this discussion are right in doing that. Personally, I believe that this forum is ment for LLM applicants to share their experiences with eachother in an informal way.
