Tier 1 Schools with Generous Financial Aid
Hi All,Mon Mar 10, 2008 12:50 PM I will obtain my LLM from Australia in the middle of this year but would love the opportunity to gain some exposure into the US legal system. Currently, I am looking at reading for another LLM in a Tier 1 university in US but do not want to incur too much debt while attempting to do so. Accordingly, I am just wondering if anyone can advise as to which Tier 1 Law Schools are usually very generous with financial aid? Many thanks! [Edited 10 Mar 2008 by Gregor2008] |

I don't know if NYU is "Tier 1" (what does that mean?) but they have a number of merit-based scholarships available: www.nyulawglobal.org/graduateadmissions/scholarshi…Mon Mar 10, 2008 02:55 PM I understand that Yale also extends financial aid to its LLM candidates. |

If your credentials are good enought , all the Financial Aid stuff will never , ever be a problem. Most top 20 law schools in States offer scholarship, depending on your crendentials . And personally, since you obtained a LLM in AU already, why not do some research about these stuff on the top 20's websites ??

Hi Both,Tue Mar 11, 2008 11:53 AM Thanks for your reply, I found it useful! I will look into your suggestions but what percentage of financial aid should I be expecting on average? (I understand that it differs on an individual basis but is there a range that I should be expecting?). Thanks! Cheers Greg |

Most of the Tier I schools have disclosed information about scholarships availability on their websites; Usually, the Dean's scholarship is upto 15,000$. Leaving aside the top 20, you may also expect, subject of course to your credentials being upto their expectations, partial scholarship from several other Tier I schools like AU, SMU, CWRU, CARDOZO.etc. Tue Mar 11, 2008 05:36 PM Besides, some of the Tier-I schools like Temple, SUNY Buffalo and U Conn have very low tuition as compared to others.
