does anyone know how columbia informs ppl of rejections? if it informs by air mail (unless you specifically email them and ask), then could it be that if one has not heard till now it means that one is rejected - cause air mail will take a while to arrive?

I asked a friend of mine, who is a current LL.M. student at CLS to find out something about how advanced the admissions process currently is - the unofficial and probably not very accurate information from a few days ago was that about 60% of the class has already been chosen... Judging from the previous years' posts on this board, last admissions decisions were communicated in the beginning of May. Oh the never ending wait... ;-)

Got rejected, I received the email last night :-(Tue Apr 01, 2008 07:10 AM I am so disappointed! And now what? The other Law School I was admitted to are not even comparable to CLS especially in my field of interest (i.e., arbitration). What will be my chances if I apply again next year? Last night I received an e-mail from cls admissions office. As my school does not provide an official one, I had sent a note from the school stating that they do not have an official ranking they could provide. In last night's e-mail, CLS is asking from me to submit them an unofficial ranking information about my graduation grades. I'm not sure if this is just a formality or has the decision process come and stuck to this single piece of information. I guess still not receiving a rejection is positive. Does any of you have any opinion as to how I should interpret all this?

I've just sent a e-mail and here is the answer : Thu Apr 03, 2008 08:54 PM "We make our admissions decisions through the end of April, and you will be notified via email as soon as a decision has been made on your application. If, however, you fax or email your letter of admission to the other university, including the deadline, we can try to expedite your decision" That's definitely too long, and I won't wait untill end of april!!! |

Hi,Fri Apr 04, 2008 01:42 AM got accepted on April st. My deadlines were close so I wrote them an e-mail asking them to take a decision (politely but still). I received an e-mail two hours later informing me that I was accepted. There is still hope. Good luck to all of you |

hello, I am also stil waiting for news from Columbia. I have deadlines for Georgetown and Chicago so I was also wondering if I should send an email. But I am worried that they will be annoyed by such an email and that they may reject me instead of still keeping me waiting... What do you think?

Maybe you should write an e-mail. I really do not hink that they would reject you on the sole ground that you wrote an e-mail requesting that a decision be taken. It would be uncalled for and a shame for such a university.Fri Apr 04, 2008 10:39 AM Here is my advice: write an e-mail, tell them that you have deadlines real close and that you need to know when their decision, whether positive or negative, will be available. Just say you can't wait much longer. They'll understand that they need to take a decision without even having to explicitely ask them. Good luck to you |

I sent an e-mail to CLS last week (on Thursday) asking them about any info on my application and I still do not have a reply. Nothing. Zero. Is this normal??? I do not know what to think.
