Boston estimates the cost of its LL.M. program, including living expenses, to be $53,000, whereas Northwestern gives an estimate of $63,868.Wed Mar 26, 2008 06:45 PM So your choice appears to be between $38,000 and $63,868 - that's at least one factor to take into consideration. |

Tough call, but given the stated factors (and Bender's financial planning!), I'd initially be tempted by B.U. simply on the basis of present value.Thu Mar 27, 2008 06:23 AM However, N.U. is "ranked" significantly higher by "you know who" in the latest rankings. That may or may not end up justifying the higher cost of attendance at N.U. Ultimately, landing a great post-school job is all about academic performance and "networking" no matter which school you attend. That said, graduation from certain schools (if you've got the grades) can open lots of doors later on... I faced a similar, but not identical dilemma recently when I chose to accept an offer from the University of Virginia (top 10 ranking, but expensive tuition) instead of my alma mater, the University of Washington (top 30 ranking, but relatively cheap tuition). Aside from the obvious factors, I partially rationalized the UVA choice on the basis of the "dirt cheap" cost of living in Charlottesville, VA! Seattle is an awesome city (perhaps my favorite American city), but the cost of living there is much higher. Hope that helps! |

Despite good financial advice from Bender, I still prefer NorthWestern. The crowds and university reputation are in different leagues. You don't get to do many LLM so might as well give it your best everything.

Hi guys,Thu Mar 27, 2008 08:30 PM For BU, my application has just became complete. So I am late and I hope there will be places for me... I will probably have my phone-call next week. Could you please tell me everything I need to know about it...?? What are the questions about ? What is good to say ? Do I have to avoid something ? I have applied for the LLM in American Law, and I am interested in a concentration in IP. Thank you very much !! Hope to see you in July ! Noun |

to noun:Fri Mar 28, 2008 11:52 AM I remember that the questions are (only applicable for American law program): 1.How do you know about the BU LLM program? 2.Why do you want to attend LLM program? 3.What do you want to study and why? 4.What do you know about the teaching method in USA? 5.How do you estimate your English proficiency﹖ Then, you could ask any question you want to know about BU LLM program. Finally, the interviewer would give you the students’ contact information of your country. Just relax and be confident. I hope this info will be useful for you. |

Wed Apr 02, 2008 10:31 AM Hi guys, Hey, same as me. But I have to choose one from BU and GWU. BU provides me 10,000USD scholarship, while GWU dose not. But GWU have a higher rank in IP than BU, and as far as I know, GWU is the best in patent law in US! Now I tend to choose BU. |
