I was told by a staff member of a university that foreign students doing LLM in US are eligible to take the bar exams of the following states.
1.NEWYORK
2.CALIFORNIA
3.WEST VIRGINIA
so anybody interested to do LLM be advised that you have a limited scope to be a licensed attorney.
I was also told that the LLM programm usually caters the people who have an intention of going back to their homeland.So folks,if you intend to pursue work in US be sure that you have a good GPA in your LLM so that,you can compete with other candidates who have a JD.
I wanted to share this because all of us are sailing in the same boat.ALL THE BEST.

What about DC and Conn.? According to their bar exam rules, you can write the bar with an LLM.

I believe foreign students are not eligible for bar exam of connecticut.Till last year foreign students were allowed to take the bar exam on obtaining a permission from the bar.I have a friend who took the permission last year and has confirmed this information.From this year we are not eligible.

I have no idea about DC. I came across an article where it was mentioned that grads have to complete 26 credit hours . you can find the eligibility for various states from this link:

hmm... my understanding is that that guide isn't exactly up to date. i feel like there have to be more states that allow LLMs to take the bar than california, ny and wv. some schools advertise 15 states on their websites, trying to convince foreign students to pursue an LLM. anyway, thanks for the info!
