Tilburg vs Maastricht
hi guys,Wed Apr 02, 2008 04:08 PM I have been accepted at both Tilburg (LLM International and European Public Law) and Maastricht (LLM European Law School). I know that both unis are great so I need a piece of advice. Which one to choose? Please help! Thank you all! |

Hello!Wed Apr 02, 2008 07:12 PM I was in Tilburg last Friday for an appointment with one of the Education Office's responsibles and I can for sure say that they seem to have a great intern structure and organization. She also told me about the relations that they maintain with some other international / european entities (at least some of the teachers do), about the University campus, the city, and a lot of other things. So I can say I had a nice time there and I do have a really positive view about the University. I also applied but I don't have an answer yet. If I don't get accepted in Utrecht (my first choice) I'm considering uVa (Amsterdam, where I was already accepted) and Tilburg (because of all the reasons I wrote above). I wish you good luck with your choice. Maybe we'll be colleagues, you never know :D |

Hi all, Sat Apr 05, 2008 02:11 PM I've also been accepted from Tilburg, Int. Business Law programme. I have also found out that Tilburg is a great university particularly with their innovative approach. But do you have any updated info about its law faculty ranking in year 2007? I hope you have.. I could not find any. But I guess there may be some info in Dutch sources, newspapers, magazines, etc. And I can't speak Dutch. :( If you can somehow reach some info, would you please share with me? As you said Tilburg is a great university with excellent academic staff so in my opinion you shouldn't be so worried about the exact position in the ranklists which is for sure one of the top! |

There is not really an official ranking as far as I know. I don't think people really pay attention to it. There is not one university or programme that is particularly bad or good for that matter. Most important thing is that you choose something that you like. Every programme is different, so if you choose the one that suits best your wishes and that gives the courses that you find most interesting, the ranking should not matter.

I got my acceptance letter in internation business law in the beggining of last week....as I've been also accepted in another unies, I'm still deciding which one to choose. I've heard that the law school is very organized, the teachers are highly qualified and choosen as one of the best in Europe....does anyone know any opinion about students who already undertook the int. bus. program and could give us a first impression??? And BTW, although they have a nice reputation don't forget they are quite new in the law field (but I would like to evince the fact that they are one of the best on business / economic matters)! We are about to start a student life in Holland choosing LLM programmes, everyone with his own criteria... Of course Leiden, Utrecht, Amsterdam, Maastricht, Tilburg, Groningen, Nijmegen are highly reputated universities,so I really don't understand what's the matter here |

Anyway in my honest opinion I guess everybody has already made like a sort of hierarchy for the Unies to which they applied. And of course its not only a question of rankings or reputation, but also a question of taking a look at the course programme and see which LLM / Univ. suits you best :)! I guess that the most important thing now is to be accepted in a good LLM!| :) |

I was accepted in those 3 as well but I am gonna choose Utrecht because of the interesting subjects and the chance to have an internship + its good reputation along the years! Anyway I find Tilburg a good choice too. I think this year people are deciding to accept their places in Tilburg a lot, instead of other schools with a solid reputation, like Leiden or so!
