LLM Bond / LLM before first state examination
Hey guys, Sun May 04, 2008 04:38 PM I`m a German - law student (fourth semester) from Bavaria and I would like to do my LLM at Bond University. In this and the next term I will be through with attending lectures and classes, collecting credit points and passing exams. All that remains for my first degree is the final exam (In Germany we don`t have a LLB just a state exam) . As I am two semesters faster than the standard period of study in Germany takes, I would like to go abroad in a foreign country and do my LLM Diploma in these two terms. My question is : Is it possible at Bond university to do a Master of Laws Diploma before you passed your state examination if you have all credits? In principle, as I know, they are reluctant to admit to the LLM programme without a LLB. Therefore the law faculty of the University Bayreuth ( my home university) would authorize an official writing with the confirmation, that a LLB is on a par with the German-educationsystem of having collected all credit-points. For me it would be very important to do my LLM before my state examination, as I have a scholarship and the foundation will pay the LLM for me, but just in case that I will pass the LLM before I will pass my state examination. So do you think that I could be admitted for a LLM at Bond with these equivalent? And does anyone of u, if it is hard to be admitted @bond ?ß do you need very good marks/grades? Hope you can help me best wishes from germany |

LLM Bond / LLM before first state examination
Hi moonlight,Sat May 10, 2008 04:31 PM I have tried my best to help you but I am unsure if my answer is satisfactory. Firstly, the requirement to most (if not nearly all) LLMs in Australia would be a pass LLB degree. Based on my understanding of your message, I am under the impression that you will only obtain your LLB after your exams? If that is the case, there might be some difficulty in you getting admission into a LLM program because they would have to cite your degree. Even if Bond accepts your university's letter in-lieu, i suspect that there might be problems in getting a student visa into Australia. Alternatively, if you have completed your LLB and are awaiting for your state exam, then i think there shouldn't be a problem! Let me know more information and I will see if I am able to assist further! Cheers Greg |
