BCL courses 2008
I was wondering if anyone could provide any information about which BCL subjects are great/ not that great. Any information from current BCL students would really be of assistance.Thu Jun 05, 2008 05:20 AM I'm particularly interested in workloads and reading, and whether any classes are notable for their excellent or terrible teaching/ reading lists/ exams. Given we need to do four subjects, I don't want to overload myself Anyone who has heard anything from their friends should also post! I'm also interested to know what subjects people are thinking of doing. I'm planning to do competition law, conflict of laws, regulation, international economic law but am also considering law & society in medieval england, transnational commercial law or international dispute settlement. |

I am intending to do Conflict of laws, REstitution, Jurisprudence and Political Theory and then not sure for fourth option. Perhaps Insolvency, evidence or the new advanced Property and trust one.Tue Jun 10, 2008 01:40 PM Does anyone know how and when we select and how the 35 student cap is applied? First come first served or list of preferences or usually not an issue? Bit concerned as Conflict and Restitution, I understand, are popular. Hi Lex. I've heard from some past students that evidence, restitution and conflict have the highest workload of any subjects. Something to keep in mind when you're choosing your subjects. Hey HJ. Just got into re college stuff today. I need to get couples accommodation so we need to decide if we want to try and get one of the college houses at Stavertonia (wherever that is!) or try to find something else. I'll be arriving around 18/19 September.

I received my college information a few weeks ago. I also need accommodation for my partner and me, and am hoping that I will get one of the couples' flats offered by my college. If not, does anyone have a view on whether it is better to try and organise a flat from the other side of the world, sight unseen, before arriving? Or is it better to wait and look for a flat on arrival at the start of the academic year, presumably along with the rest of the city? Thu Jun 12, 2008 05:18 AM I will probably be arriving at Oxford the weekend before 22 September (the starting date specified on the offer letter). My proposed courses are Corporate Finance Law, Corporate Insolvency Law, Restitution, and one other, possibly Regulation. |
