Holborn College LLMs
Has anyone attended to this college? I'm interested in the Liverpool John Moores University LLM in Business and Commercial Law, but I need more information about the quality of the programme, any recommendation or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Holborn College is not bad at all.It's a good law school with very good reputation. But i must admit that some of the lecturers are not helpful at all. I am very sorry to say that when it comes to counselling, dissertations,etc you will find yourself wandering. And the robust manner the finance department deals with the students when it comes to the collecting of fees beggars belief. I will strongly advise you to consult some of the current students and see how the situation looks like at present before you make your final decision in that i finished law degree some few years ago at the College. As far as I am aware, Holborn College is not a university; it is part of the private sector. It does have some links with JMU (a former polytechnic). From talking to people who have worked there, I understand that its staff have high teaching loads by comparison with the majority of the university sector. Without wishing to impugn the quality of the staff, I suspect that as a consequence of their teaching loads, they have little time for research.

Please dont join the college...its a trap........they are highly irresponsible......and sitting for money....This is a worst college i have ever seen....this college is established legally...everything is legal in accordance with UK laws.But in reality the college is spoiling the lives of 100s of indian students....even if you perform well the college will not give passmarks to the students.....and fail them,,,so they can earn money from resit fees......for each resit ,student must pay nearly 120 pounds(nearly 10000 INR). So they mainly interested in making money....once you paid the fees ,then situation changes.....they will never listen to your worries at all.....the academic services department is the most harrassing one.....if they fail a student....no need to pay the registration fees for each student.....to the university,,,so again to save nearly 2000 pounds for each student...they will fail the students and terminate the course ask them to leave the college...... 1. The conditions for PG courses are: a, The number of resit is only one.So totally a student can attempt an exam two times.After that if a student will just get PG diploma or PG certificate for The cost Postgradute degree. b,To give PG diploma and PG Certificate there is no need to pay extra money to the university.....so they will try their maximum to fail student and not to give pg degree..... So if somebody want to take it as a challenge their studies by spending lots of money can come and join....and risk their money and career.....Sun Jul 27, 2008 10:54 PM Rating: Funding and Scholarships in 2005 this college announced scholarships for indian students, mainly affected by tsunami with the help of british council.....they published this news in all major indian news papers to attract students....but in reality...when we contacted british council...they said that they never heard of it ...and realted to this college at all...again cheating....... Study Experience Except one or two lecturers most of them working for making money to the college.....teachers are not well quaified for teaching Pg .....library is very small and not good or eligible to conduct PG studies.....very illequiped .some teachers are even harassing students and mentally torturig them through which ever way they can...... Life Experience If you want to get a UK degree go and join some university even if you spend some money more.....u will get a dgree and can excel in ur career.....i am one of the affected student and helpless and trying to help others through this site.....if you are not believing me....plz ask any student who studied in this college or somebody who is living in london.....dont ask agencies they will provide only good picture not the reality....because the college is providing 25% commission for each student form fees...but reputed universities will never do this.....so the agencies will try to get max students to these type of colleges.S plz enquire with former students if you are going to sudy abroad....... Job Prospects In Uk if u are studying in an indepndent colleges like this the job prospective in UK is very less compared to University educated students.......nobody knows about this and spend nearly equal amount,,,,,,, Recommended for international students:No if you are not believing my words please visit www.orkut.com and go to communities search for holborn college and listen to what students talk about the college........ |

Further to your enquiry under the Freedom of Information Act 2000Sun Jul 27, 2008 11:43 PM concerning the LLM (Wales) programme on International Trade Law at Holborn College, London, I am able to supply the following information: #1) how many students get matriculated to University of Wales for LLM in International Trade from Holborn College, London for the academic years 2005-06, 2006-07 and also the number of students who were awarded LLM Degree during these academic years from Matriculation Matriculation is a general qualification requirement and information is often provided in advance of the student registering on a specific course at an institution and the student may not register in the same academic session as they matriculate. It is therefore not possible to me to give you an exact figure for the matriculation statistics only for students for the LLM in International Trade. Well the above information appears quite damning. I have no direct experience with Holborn or JMU but can give you the following points: - Holborn is a private college (i.e. a business), it is NOT a UK university. - Liverpool John Moores University is a bona fide university in the UK (an ex-poly), but it has a non-existent reputation for LLMs/postgraduate law programmes. and its general reputation and entry standards are below par for a British law school. If you want to do an LLM at John Moores University then simply apply directly to the law school, but there are much better places to spend your money (particularly if you are charged international fees). Holborn College LLMs
I studied at Holborn College. It is a private college and their standards are different from those in most UK Universities (I studied at a UK uni as well). In short, if you want a successful career in any big city then you should study at a good UK University, not a UK based private college that is recruiting candidates from overseas only. Hope this helps.

Choosing Holborn College for further studies, LLM International Trade Law led to the worst experience of my life. From the start I had realised there was something shady about this college. Then as time went on, I realised that most students who had applied to Holborn were just there because of the low fees and were basically working odd jobs in the UK; thats how this college operates and attracts students from developing countries. Its a money making org, with no proffesional acadamics. There are serious students who fall for this Holborn College trap and later regret ever coming here, like myself. They have a very low pass rate, specially for LLM and thats to gather extra fees for resits and resubmissions. The ignorant Student services treats every student as if they are beggers who have come to UK for odd jobs. The teachers are also very uncooperative and ignorant. They will do all in their capacity to fail you and drag you along with them forever. So please be aware of these private college traps like Holborn and apply to reputable universities.

This college is absolutely awful. I began my law degree there 2 years ago, I only completed the first year. The teachers really don't know much, not the ones I had at any rate. But the problem lies with the material you are supposed to study from. I would really steer clear of this college, no matter how cheap the fees. Everyone without exception on my course was under the same impression. I have now changed over to the Uni of London, and suddenly everything makes sense. A lot of students on my course were foreign but there were also a fair few Brits like myself.
