Where is the best place to study international commercial dispute resolution?

I am seeking a postgraduate course specialising in international commercial dispute resolution in the UK and wonder which university can offer such course. I have learned that International arbitration and investment dispute settlement modules of Queen Mary are very good but it seems they do not have a strong reputation in international commercial litigation. UCL may be in a better position to offer international commercial litigation module. Would appreciate if you could advise on this issue. Many thanks.

Hello,

Have you considered the LLM International Dispute Resolution and Management at University of Dundee? It's delivered by CEPMLP (Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy) which gives you the option to include a energy and natural resource focus to your degree.
Parts of the LLM is also recognised by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators as providing exemptions to the part of the Institute membership qualification.
Modules available under this LLM include International Commercial Arbitration, International Dispute Settlement, Transnational Investment Law and Policy and International Investment Arbitration.
For more information, see www.cepmlp.org/academic/FT-LLM-IDM.php

The International Commercial Litigation course at Cambridge University is an immensely popular course, and is arguably one of the best-structured commercial law courses on the LL.M. programme.

The course focuses on commercial litigation, which primarily covers jurisdiction, procedure, remedies, choice of law etc under common law and European law. Arbitration is covered but not in detail, as litigation is the main focus.

I personally found it one of the most enjoyable and rewarding courses on the LL.M. course.

Thank all of you for your information. I think that it is difficult to be admitted by Cambridge University. Furthermore, I anticipate that international commercial litigation is only one of necessary modules to research on international commercial dispute resolution. Do you have any information about other modules like international arbitration or investment dispute settlement? Many thanks!

You could also have a look at the Geneva International Dispute Settlement LL.M at www.mids.ch/

It includes various aspects dispute settlement in both public international law and international trade/commercial law and it seems you can tailor it quite a bit if you have a preference for the one or the other.

It's a good university, but I haven't heard comments yet from someone who has done this LL.M.

Good luck!
