well i guess then the rankings differ all the time...

ucl acts more pricy though even regarding the criteria of meeting the ielts score of 7.5 i got 7.0 both times and they havent considered it...

but if i had to choose i would still go for ucl...

indeed, Nevertheless, according to the two rankings provided by theGuardian and Time, KCL seems to be better than UCL. Am so confused.
However, do you know whether it is still possible to take one or two courses in an other college than the one you choose.?

It may depend on your specialisation, but I am not familar with the modules KCL offers.

But in general, I think it is quite well established that the top universities are OxBridge, then UCL & LSE.

The rankings differ greatly due to the different factors that are taken into account, the weight they are given, and also the different methods employed. Sometimes they may be able to provide some guidance, but I would say all the rankings are questionable at best. I have yet to see a post with the question "Oxford or Aberdeen" for a general BCL/LLM.

Adhémar, some universities accept visiting students. You can have a look on their websites.

I think that you can rely on ranking only with respect to Oxbridge. Their ranks never change (well, almost).

When I had to decide between UCL and KCL in February, all ranking stood on proority of UCL. 4 months have pasted and the rankings have changed. So what now, do I have to make other choice?.. I think not.

You will never know what's best, untic you look though the list of offerd courses and professors. I think that for my area, Banking and Finance, UCL is better than UCL. Then you should consider such points as accomodation, tutorial fees etc.

Good luck for you on your choice.

Adhemar,

please note to one more important point - english language requirements. UCL requires 7.5 on IELTS test and KCL requires only 7.0. Sometimes these 0.5 points are very hard to get.

Maria

Indeed!
Nevertheless, is it still possible de take one or two courses in an other Uni (UCL,QM, KCL, SOAS) than the one you chose?

Adhemar,

No, it is not possible. From 2008 intercollege llm programme was cancelled. You are now limited only to the courses of your own university.

Hi there,
I accepted an unconditional offer from KCL but I am wondering if it could be possible to withdraw it later without being commited to pay the fees ?
Help would be much appreciated since I am quite confused with that !

Ben_Tlse,

you ask here for an answer for a very important qustion, which in fact will have effect on YOUR money. I can say that "once upon a time a friend of my friend accepted KCL offer and then went to UCl (without any penalties from KCL's side)". And would you believe me?..

For every such question, which is not theoretical and would have effect on you, my advise is to contact KCL directly.

You do not have to say that you are waiting for a better offer, just explain them that you might not have an ability to attend you classes due to some personal matters and there is an option you may decline their offer in September.

I am sure, they will answer and such answer will be an official position.

Regards,
Maria

Well relying on rankings to determine which university you choose is pretty silly...as they go up and down (sorry if I sound patronising). For some reason, lots of people on here seem absolutely obsessed with the ranking that are to a certain extent subjectively produced by UK newspapers.

Both UCL and KCL are great universities, and leading universities of the University of London. You won't go wrong choosing either. So put ranking concerns to one side, and pick the one that is best suited to the LLM courses you are choosing. Eg. for legal theory go to UCL, for competition law go to KCL etc.

UCL and LSE are not necessarily any better than KCL. All form part of the 'golden triangle' (if we are to take any notice of that category). Depending on the specialisation of the LLM, SOAS or QMUL (CCLS) are also contenders.

Hi everyone,

How funny to read these posts:) most of them sound so much like me "holding an unconditional offer from KCL, having 7.0 in IELTS- having conditional offer from UCL and finally which one is better, taking in consideration that it is so unattractive to take another test in this midsummer time?!":)
I guess no one tried to ask for a waiver in regards of the English Language Requirement fulfillment? Do you think it is not worth it? That is what i did with KCL actually and they accepted it and released me from the TEST torture :)
will be happy to hear any clever comments on the issue of discussion:)

hi LJ,

The problem i guess is that UCL does not accept the English Language Waiver request, atleast that is what they say.. especially in law.. i guess that is the reason why such a thing has not happened..

Cheers..

Hey there meghapurohit,
First of all I am not a dude,I am more of a girl:)
Secondly, I did not mean to offend anyone and if you clearly read my post, it was a pure question not a hint or something, I wondered if anyone has tried the trick with waiver thing and if anyone succeeded:)
And finally I do not think that anyone can let himself be so arrogant, here at this forum, since one should understand how much tension is on everyones side and that this kinda replies are pretty useless:)
Good luck everyone with all you do and happy to help if needed.
