hi LJ,

The problem i guess is that UCL does not accept the English Language Waiver request, atleast that is what they say.. especially in law.. i guess that is the reason why such a thing has not happened..

Cheers..

Hi all,

I got accepted to both UCL and KCL for the LLM. I'm interested in commercial law modules.

I'm having a bit of a dilemma regarding where to choose. For KCL I received a scholarship (King's Alumni Bursary) worth 20% of the fees, which makes my tuition a mere £4,400 (as I'm a UK student).

UCL was actually my first choice, but the cost is much more - £7,450 for home students. I'm still waiting on the results of my scholarship application, but as there is only 1 scholarship for home students it's a long shot.

Any advice/comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi

My suggestion is take KCL if you have the scholarship. Not much difference between KCL and UCL in my view. I'm going to KCL but without a scholarship and I'm an international student. :))))

In your position, I'd opt for KCL. I don't think UCL justifies the additional costs, and I don't believe that an LLM from UCL will offer you anymore kudos with employers than an LLM at KCL. At a European level, KCL is more high-profile too (although I'm not sure why!).

That's such a broad subject matter that's it's hard to determine which college is best.

I'd suggest you get a list of the LLM courses offered at KCL and UCL, and make some specific choices, then investigate who teaches them, and if the course is running in your academic year etc.

I've not really heard of either university being better at commercial/corporate law generally - in fact, I'd say QMUL's CCLS is better known for commercial law in some respects.
