LawyerGirl82: Assas LLM, European Law

I recently received word that i have been accepted to the LLM program in European Law at Assas. I have a few questions about this program and would appreciate any advice:

1. Has anyone else received word for the 08-09 year and are planning to matriculate?
2. How helpful is getting an LLM in European Law to finding a position in Europe? In the US?
3. How helpful Assas is with finding a job after graduation?
4. With respect to financing, can anyone recommend a specific lender that can help pay for the program?
5. The LLM in European Law is a newer program; can anyone speak to how it compares with the already existing LLM programs in Paris, specifically the LLM in European, French, and Business Law with Assas and the European and French Law LLM with the Sorbonne? The Sorbonne's program offers a three month stage after the coursework is completed, which from my knowledge, Assas does not offer.

Also, just generally, as I am already in debt from my law school loans (which are quite high), I am a bit concerned about financing another year of education. I am willing to do so if it will ultimately prove beneficial in finding a position after graduation. However, it is difficult to predict this. So, if anyone has been through this process and/or can speak to finding a well-paid position upon graduation from an LLM program, that would be very helpful. If I finance the program after already paying for three years of American law school, I want it to prove worthwhile!

Any help answering the above questions, or any other information that you may find useful is very much appreciated!

hi ! i'm french. I study in La Sorbonne.
Assas is one of the best University in France. Very well considered by professionnals.

But french University do not really help in finding a job after graduation...
It may be difficult to find a stage/job.... Or it may not. It really depends, you can't predict it at all.

so, as a conclusion : is it worthwhile... I can't say YES OF COURSE. But Assas is a good university. I don't like the atmosphere, I prefer Sorbonne's one. But if you want to study well, it's ok.

good luck !!!

Hi! My name is Sarah, I am greek and I am going to attend a program of Master 1 (Droit des Affaires) in Paris, but I think I affront a big dilemma....
As I have been accepted from both Pantheon - Sorbonne, as well as, Pantheon - Assas, I really don't know what to do....Which is going to be the best choice??
I would really appreciate a lot your advice and opinion and thank you a priori for any point of view.

hi !

In 2006/2007, I took Master 1 droit international at Panthéon - Sorbonne.

I met a lot of very nice people. The courses were very interesting. I had a great great time.

I had a friend who took the Master 1 droit privé carrière judiciaire at Panthéon - Assas. What I understood is that people in Assas faculty are not very nice... Actually, she met nearly no one.

I loooved my Master 1 at La sorbonne. Sorbonne is a very international University.

Both Masters are difficult. In France, some people say Assas is the best University in France...

Ok, but I really do not regret my choice !

I hope I helped :)
