Hello everyone. I have questions regarding the Harvard LLM program and the selection criteria. I am not sure of my suitablity.

I am looking to apply for 2009/10 academic year. I am 54 years old and have a 15 years experience as a High court Lawyer of Pakistan. I was in Pakistan Military before that and served for 25 years reaching to the rank of Major. I have LLB degree from Punjab University.

I have been teaching in two of the best law schools in Pakistan for past 5 years. I represent some of the major government departments in court and few Large Multinational corporations.

I need to know if all this makes my selection strong? Secondly does age matter in selection? Third, what else do i need to make my selection confirm.

Any response would be appreciated.

Wel, I personally think that in Pakistan, experience of practice does'nt count at all in order to get admission in a good ranked foriegn Uni., but if one has a work experience with a reputed multinational company then there might be a chance for him....In my opinion If one try to acheive law degree with good scores/marks or CGPA and have good communication skill and hv atleast 7.0 Band of IELTS, He can easily get admission in a good University abroad..
I hv just completed my LL.B. from PULC and nowadays I m doing LL.M. from University of Warwick, coventry, UK.
Just after completion of my Law degree I took the test of IELTS and got 7.0 Band. I attented a seminar by the University and met with the delegates who after interviewing me gave me the offer at once..

I guess age won't matter that much. I did my LLM from Ivy league university in US and there was one aged student in our class. But it's true that you will have to shoot a good score in TOEFL / IELTS.

I am studying at Oxford these days. I have not seen any aged student in taught courses in Oxford, though there are a few in the Doctoral Programme.

I would recommend that you should contact the admissions office and seek the advice on this issue.

Good luck.
