How to start planning for an LLM

Hi,

I am currently pursuing my LLB from a above average college in India. I was planning to do my LLM from UK. I have no idea as to what I have to do for a good application. I have a GPA of around 2. However I already have one and a half years of work experience. I still have three more years before I complete my LLB. What is it that I can do in the next three years that will help me get into a above average Law College? I would need some kind of scholarship also. Is there anything I can do that will make up for the bad GPA score because it is virtually impossible for me to get a better score? Please advice.

since you mentioned you have three more years to complete LL.B, your present GPA of 2 will hardly be a hindrance; in the coming 3 years, you can make efforts to improve your final GPA.

Moreover, besides GPA, the consideration for LL.M is also your resume, work experience, letters of recommendations and your SoP/essays.

You should also try and publish some work in well known periodicals. This helps a lot.

If you try to get some exposure to the area of your interest by working part time, it shows you are more committed than average student.

Also dont forget the extra-curriculars like debates, lawtrsysts, moots etc. They help a lot.

Some social committment and NGO work is also encouraged.

Your SOP should be very clear about your eventual life goals and how LLM would help you.

Good luck.
