LLM in Tax law - Tilburg? Leiden? Maastricht? European Tax College?
Hi Elena V,Tue Jul 15, 2008 03:39 PM The Tilburg LLM in Tax Law is the same as the programme offered by the European Tax College (www.europeantaxcollege.com), since the Tilburg LLM in Tax Law (that is the Tax LLM for international students) is an "Advanced Master in European and International Taxation". This program is a joint effort of Tilburg University and the Catholic University of Leuven, so when you graduate for this programme you also get a joint degree (being at least one of the unique features of this programme). I myself have enjoyed participating in the Tilburg/Leuven programme, and to some extent this programme is comparable to the Leiden programme. Both of these programmes require hard work! Although the tuition fee of the programmes is not comparable (Tilburg/Leuven € 8.750 / Leiden € 17.000), the quality of the programmes is in my view comparable! As regards contents of the programmes, there is some difference. Whereas both programmes, in their own way, focus on practical matters of taxation, the Tilburg/Leuven programme also discusses these matters from a comparative tax law point of view. For this, a lot of the lectures are given by leading foreign professors (US, UK, France, Australia and so on...), contrary to the Leiden programme which I believe works with teaching assistents. The Maastricht programme is new to me, so unfortunately I can't give you any info on this programme. Greetings, MvH |

I would disagree as an inside from Leiden - teaching assistants are just an extra bonus you get from the program... several workshops with cases for all and tutorials for poor performers, they check your everyday assignment you are to submit before 11 pm.Wed Jul 23, 2008 06:41 PM All classes are done either by prominent international professors (from everywhere, if he/she is an expert in the field) or practisioners from major law and accounting firms - almost all big 4, B&M, L&L. Lot of students also got internships during their study. Hi Elena V, |
