As a European like you, I think studying in Hong Kong would be better because the courses are conducted in English. If you decide to study in Beijing, you have to master the Chinese language. Other than that, I think living in Hong Kong will be fitter for you because you can find both oriental and western styles here. Nevertheless, it depends on which university accepts you at the end.

I just think of one option for u. If you want to taste the life about studying law in china before u choose where to go, you can applied the short programme from the HKU space external programe. I remeber they got an one to two weeks legal training in Tsinghau, Peking. Sat Jun 25, 2005 03:25 AM I dont have much time to go but should be a good experience. |

Re: Re: WHO APPLIED TO THE LLM AT HONG KONG UNIVERSITY???
If you have decided to receive your education in HK, apart from HKU, you should also consider LLM programme offered by CityU. Recently, there are many positive feedbacks from those who have taken programmes at CityU and those who have hired graduates of CityU. Many legal professions have jumped the bandwagon and started giving CityU a serious consideration. There are a number of reasons. First of all, they have the best law library in Asia, as the matter of fact, many HKU and Space students visit CityU's library for books. Secondly, they have a number of experts in the law department, for example, Dr. Wang who is the only Asian to complete his JSD at Yale in 2 yrs time, this is a valient effort; on top of that, they have more PhDs than HKU. In addition, they also have one of the best WTO experts working hard in their team. Thirdly, they are innovators. They introduced the new "JD" programme in 2004, which HKU and CU will most likely follow in 2006/7. It appears that I am selling CityU to you but I am not, I just want you to know that there are alternatives in HK besides HKU. CityU School of Law is definitely a formible opponent for HKU recenlty. BTW, I will be applying JSD programme at CityU.

Hello,Wed Jun 29, 2005 05:41 PM thanks for your considerations. Right today i had a phone interview with the programme leader of teh City University of HK. I am still not sure where i will attend the master... I applied to HKU CityHK u. and Tsinghua of Beijing.... Where do u think it would be the best??? I am interested in Chinese law or anyway international busines law with a specialization in Chinese law.... Sombody told me it is better Beijing becosue HK is not "real" china... what do u think? |

Re: WHO APPLIED TO THE LLM AT HONG KONG UNIVERSITY???
Hello. I was just accepted to UHK and am waiting to hear from CityUHK for their respective LL.M. programs. I am trying to decide between the two, but don't have much of an objective frame of reference for evalutaing the programs. I read one reply that was helpful (I forget from whom) and was wondering if anyone else could shed additional light on the decision I will likely have to make. I am leaning toward UHK, but mostly because I can get American federal financial aid for its program but not CityUHK's. Has anyone else decided to attend UHK?
