LLM Admission now??
Hey!Thu Jul 24, 2008 02:51 PM Wonder if anyone can help. I've just decided I want to do my LLM, and it would be great if I could get a place somewhere in London for this session. Any idea if I might still be able to get a place, considering the session starts Sep/Oct? I know that LSE, and most probably UCL, have closed their admissions but anyone have any info about others? Also, any tips about writing supporting statements etc? I know that most of the University of London colleges like UCL, SOAS, Kings etc ask for a 2:1; i have an undergraduate 2:2 and have done my BVC- any idea whether that helps? Thanks a lot! |

Your chance of getting into SOAS and Kings depends on how high your 2.2 was. If you have something like 58% with plenty of 2.1s on your transcript *I reckon* you'd certainly have a shot. Particularly considering that lots of people apply to multiple Universities for LLMs and will now be choosing which one to pick, leaving a few vacant places around this time of year if the admissions officer has "undershot" the number of offers needed to fill up the course.Sat Jul 26, 2008 11:34 AM Get your application in now so that there's a chance it arrives on the admissions officer's desk the same day as an email/letter comes in from a student turning down a place. You should also definitely consider Universities outside of London. Many have excellent academics researching and teaching there. Don't forget that lecturers are people too with families etc. and they don't just choose where to work on the basis of the undergrad reputation of the University. [Edited 26 Jul 2008 by upnorth] |

You should also realize that, as it is now nearly August, applications will start falling due in a matter of a few months (October and November, generally), so you may consider planning to do your LL.M. in a year, in order to give yourself a chance when spaces are not few and far between.Sat Jul 26, 2008 12:14 PM P.
