Hi people,

I have got an offer from KCL. Does anyone know what date of September is the course commencing?
By what date latest should the International students reach U.K.?

Can anyone of you please send me a checklist (of things to be taken to U.K.) for International students?

Thank you all
Sahil (India)

Hi Sahil

The LLM classes start from September 22, 2008. But you should be in London latest by September 15, 2008. That's what my unconditional offer from KCL states.

If you want to attend the international students orientation, then you should be in London by September 9 or 10, 2008. The orientation is scheduled between 10/09/08 and 12/09/08. if you can't attend that, they have shorter orientation programs thereafter.

The checklist for things to be taken is given on the KCL website. You can also check out these links:

Hope that helps. See you in London. :)

Hey thanks Prash... It seems you are online. I've one more post. would be obliged if you reply to that too.

Where are you from? Is it advisable to take the university accommodation or is private accommodation preferred over it?

Hi

I'm from Delhi, India. It's better to take up University Accommodation because your headaches are much less. You don't have to bother about electricity, water, repairs etc.

It might work out cheaper also if you get University accommodation in Zone 1. I doubt private accommodation would be cheaper in Zone 1 and in any case you would have to share a flat with some other persons to be able to afford it.

As an international student you get priority at KCL provided you applied by June 30, 2008. if you applied after June 30, you'll be considered in the 2nd round.

Hi guys,

I´m a brazilian student and I have accepted King´s College London unconditional offer to join its LLM Program.

I guess living in one of the university accommodation is the best option, since their localization are great, some of the houses include breakfast and dinner in the fees and, at last, I guess that being in London with other foreigner students from different countries will represent an excellent experience.

I will arrive in London on September 1st, to get acclimatized to the city before the beggining of our classes.

See you there,

Eloy

What about university accommodation not on sharing basis? I mean if I'm looking for a single accommodation provided for the university, is it too expensive and therefore not advisable or is it otherwise?

Hi

A single room in the KCL accommodation options can cost you anything between 100 to 120 pounds a week. Depends on which place you get for the accommodation.

University accommodation in Zone 1 and 2 will probably work out cheaper in any case unless you live very far away from campus in Zone 3 and 4. In any case if you live far away from the campus, whatever money you save on the rent will be neutralized by your travel costs to a large extent.

The Strand campus where the LLM classes are held is in Zone 1 and finding cheap private accommodation in Zone 1 may be a problem.

Have you applied for KCL accommodation?
