LL.M. or LPC or BVC for foreign student
hi there.Wed Aug 06, 2008 07:02 PM I am a lawyer having two yrs. work ex. in common law country.... i am going to apply to be a solicitor in UK... kindly guide me that whether it will be better to join LPC course as even i shall become solicitor , i shall have no experience in uk and my primary object is to obtain a position in corporate law firm in UK...... Whether LL.M. from top ten university will be a good option to obtain such position like corporate lawyer in law firm in UK as i may work in legal luminary for 20 hrs. per week during my LL.M. .... kindly guide me .... so which programme is better LL.M. or LPC for foreign lawyer... regards... |

hi, i glaube if you are a lawyer in your country already, and if you are qualified within EU, then you may can easily be qualified by UK as well.Sat Aug 16, 2008 12:09 AM but if you qualified within other country, then you have to pass a qualified exam which called "QLTT", but you have to qualified in certain country(such as usa, ireland...etc) to take the exam. if you are not qualified in those countries to take "QLTT", then, you have to obtain a Certificate of Eligibility from the Law Society of England and Wales. so i guess LLM would be a better choice for you since you are a lawyer already. please notice that the above info is needed to be second checked, it might be abandoned. good luck |
