Distance learning tax LLM for a US lawyer - makes sense or not?
Hi all -Mon Aug 18, 2008 03:13 AM I've been out of law school for a few years now (graduated from the U of Az) and am thinking of pursuing a part-time distance learning tax LLM, either at Alabama or NYU (since I think those are the only two that offer it). I want to stay at my current job, which I like, but I want to get more tax-related knowledge. I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts about the usefulness of a tax LLM for a US-educated lawyer who already has a good job. It seems one negative aspect of distance learning is that you do not get too much of a social network. On the other hand, I don' t see how else I can learn about the legal aspects of tax (other than trial and error, which might be detrimental to my firm's malpractice insurance), which aspect seem to come up all the time. Any thoughts, even random ones, would be appreciated. |
