Toefl Minimum Score
I plan to apply for Georgetown, but today I was frustrated to find that my Toefl score in speaking section, which is 23, is below their minimun requirement of 25. I got overall score of 112. I have put a lot of effort in making improvement of my speaking skills, but it certainly didn`t work. Since I have just an average GPA, I want to make good impression in other factors-such as toefl score, graduate school GPA, work experience, etc. Thu Sep 04, 2008 04:06 PM I would like to ask your opinion of taking toefl test again. do it again? Oh Brother! What is their TOEFL score requirement? if it is 100 or 110 as most schools are I really would not bother myself if I were you. You can write to them and ask them though , eventualy, they will set up an inteview with you and they can evaluate your speaking skills. I have head that most of the schools are flexible with the TOEFL score as long as you provide them a good personal statement , writing sample and resume. well that was my opinion. Just to inform u of my personal experience, I scored TOFLE pretty good but that does not mean that I am very good at speaking and writing when it comes to the real experience of doing LLM!

Gosh! You've got 112 ? It is iBT isn't it? That's a very good score and far over the standard. Even Harvard only require for 100 and 105 for Columbia. I give my compliment to you! How could you do that? Did you have to take a toefl course or something? How long did you study for your toefl?Could you please give me some advice?Sat Sep 06, 2008 10:59 AM I don't think you have to take it again, but if this score (23/25) really bother you and you just want to make sure that you've got everything perfectly, you should then take it again. Thank you for your compliment. I`ve spent my almost an year improving my general English ability by reading books written in English and listening tapes while driving. Thankfully, when I start to take TOEFL test, I don`t have to study reading and listening section. For writing section, I read model essays and tried to memorize some expressions. That is probably why I could get 89 out of 90 in those three sections. But I cannot get above 24 when it comes to speaking section. I hope you do well on your test. Good luck!
