I have heard that entry to Oxford is harder for student for students from civil law backgrounds (i.e. Turkey) compared to Cambridge. I would like to learn whether this rumour have any grounds. Any comments are more than welcome

I believe there is an argument that the BCL is 'better' than the Cambridge LLM and on that basis it might be harder to get accepted but essentially both programs have very low applicant-acceptance rates and thus there are many rejected applicants with excellent credentials. Really, if you don't mind the effort and the fee then just apply and hope for the best. Good luck!

What is a "2i" degree in the UK?

Does anyone know?

Thanks in advance

A 2i is a degree classifaction where, generally, the students average score sits between 60 and 69.9%. It is the equivalent of a B grade I guess, a good pass but not outstanding.

Further to the previous post, note that 60-69% is on the UK approach to marking and in law, 80% is a very, very high mark and very few people get over 70% - about 10% or less. A 2i is sometimes referred to as an upper second class degree.

Exactly right. Sorry, I didn't mean to belittle a 2i at all. I seem to remember seeing something like a 3.2-3.6 GPA in the USA is comparable to a 2i although I could be absolutely wrong...

Didn't mean to imply you did. It is just that the UK system perhaps needs a little explaining to those unused to it. For example, a good American student when presented - say - with 65% might have a little bit of a panic attack on seeing this, when actually it is a very respectable mark.
