NYU LLM in International Tax
Hi,Sun Oct 05, 2008 09:45 AM I am a European lawyer who would like to study tax law at NYU. I would prefer to take the LLM in International Taxation, but I have a theory that it is easier to be admitted to the regular tax LLM, since only 20-25 students are admitted to the LLM in International Taxation. I would like to hear from someone who has been admitted to the NYU LLM in International Taxation. I would be most thankful if you would state your credentials (class rank, work experience, etc.). I would also like to know if you think I could be admitted to the NYU LLM in International Taxation/Taxation, I graduated my BA in the top 4-5% from the best university in my country, and later took a masters degree from the same university graduating in the top 13-14%. I have two years of experience (some tax law) from a top law firm in my country. Hope to hear from you. |

NYU LLM in International Tax
NYU now has their tax program completely online, I believe its starting this year. Vermont law School is also coming out with the new program, i saw it in the new book that details online law programs. Thanks for the reply, but part of the reason why I want the LLM is the experience of living in NY for a year. I'm not interested in the online program.

Gentlemen, i am new on this forum and i need an answer to this question. I intend to apply to NYU International Tax Law LL.M,upon my completion is it feasible for me to gain employment in a top NY law firm? I also plan to sit for the NY Bar exams. I'm not really sure about the job opportunities by the time you graduate (if you intend to start next school year), but my guess is that the economic environment would have stabilized by then. This means that you are in a better spot than people doing their llm this year. If the economy does not recover, you can always apply to the Big 4 auditing firms. Looking at the list of tax lawyers in most of the New York firms, you see more than a sizable share of NYU Tax LLM grads (I'm beginning to wonder why I accepted HLS's offer instead of NYU's int tax offer). You seem really lucky getting accepted by both NYU and HLS, how is the experience in HLS like?Sat Oct 18, 2008 02:46 PM I applied to HLS LL.M, but i scored 3.1 G.P.A, i submitted only two recomendation letters, my legal essay was based on a tax issue, i intend to focus on tax as a student when admitted, although i have a strong extra curricula backgroung being the President of my alma matters Judicial council. Kindly advise me on my chances of getting admitted. I really love HLS, if i return to my country with a HLS degree sky is the limit. |
