Top 100 European Universities in Academic Ranking of World Universities 2008 :
...
17-Univ. Oslo ( 64 in world rank )
33- Lund Univ. ( 97 in world rank ),
but which program in maritime law is better, I dont know...

I'd pick Lund for Human Rights (the Raoul Wallenberg Institute) but for maritime law, Oslo is the better school, no question about it. Good luck

although marit law in lund is done in cooperation with the world maritime university, i am sort of dissatisfied with the program there (speaking from my own experience - i enrolled in sept 2008);
the curriculum is not made to make you reason why and how, but you attend lectures whose effect would be the same if you read the material yourself. the tutorials are also a sort of waste of time. if you consider coming to lund - it is ok if you want to get your llm certificate, but what you would know in the end - i simply have no answer.

as for oslo - dont know what to tell you with the exception that the program is only 1 year while in lund - 2.
the choice is yours, but my advice is find a person who is doing the llm in oslo and ask him/her about the programme there

Norway is a major maritime cluster, with some of the largest shipping companies in the world located in the country, Gard, Skuld, Frontline, Klaveness Group, Wilhelmsen and Statoil. The pool of maritime law expertise in Norway is also impressive, with several of the worlds leading maritime lawyers working out of Norway. The professors at the Scandinavian Institutt of Maritime Law and the Univeristy Law Institutt are among the best in the world in their fields. I have researched the different LL.M. maritime law programs and i am convinced that the program in Oslo is one of the best, with some of the most experienced lectures available worldwide. The program is small with less than 20 students, so you get a low student to professor ratio, and i believe they focus on accepting "mature" students rather than straight from the LL.B. program. The program curriculum is well planned, now 4 semester over 1.5 years which gives you enough time to get real insight and acadmic tools to later work in maritime law.

Has anyone been accepted to Lund yet? On the website it says acceptance decisions will go out May 7th.. but I was wondering if anyone had heard early?

Hello,

University of Oslo is well-known for Maritime Law! It has an excellent program. Plus, the professors and the staff of the Faculty of Law are very nice. The city is also cute, but quite expensive. However, scholarship is available. At the end, you can manage if you pay attention to your expenses.

Have just got admitted to the Maritime Law in Lund. Reading this post makes me regret a bit. hahaha...
However, does anyone know where to apply for scholarship in Sweden?
I have searched SI for information. All the scholarships they listed are placed with the country tag. There are many for Americans but not many for asians, except China or Japan.
Does anyone know other opportunities not limited to nationalities?
