I was notified that I was recommended by the faculty of law for admission today. Very exciting news (and earlier than I expected).

I´ve just been notified that my application has been recommended by the Faculty of Law. I applied in early December, but the required documents just arrived in late January.
Well, I guess we still have to hear from the University Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Office for a formal admission decision, right?
Anyway, congratulations everyone on this first (and important) step!

Hi Guys,

Another recommended here! I called the Faculty about two weeks ago and they told me that we shall receive news about the final decision in about a month. That will be in two more weeks, so I am extremely anxious by now!

Good luck to everyone, and I hope to see u in Montreal next fall!!!

I did my LLM at Mcgill, anyone who is recommended is accepted for sure, the only reason will be a pb with your diploma or wrongh informations...

I also heard that being recommended it is almost like being accepted, so it is great to confirm that information. I am just trying not to think about it so much because my anxiety is getting worse every day :)
Lek, I know some grad students from McGill and they are great fans of the university, and they truly admire their professors. It is actually one of the reasons why I chose McGill. According to what I heard from them it is a very stimulating environment for students, since they emphazise on legal theory, methodology and research. They also appreciate the transsystemic approach they have, which is quite unique.
Does any of you know anything about financial aid and scholarships for international students? Although McGill is not really that expensive, I still need the help!

You are able to work at Mcgill (teaching assistant) and in Montreal...schorlaship are meanly for Canadian people

Thanks for the info Adri. I´ve never been to North America and I´m really curious about Canada, Montreal and McGill. As for the scholarships, from what I´ve heard, there are few opportunities for international students. On the other hand, as mentioned above, it is possible to work as a research or teaching assistant in the campus. Anyway, hopefully things will work out. For which program have you applied?

Hi Lek,

I have applied to the Non-Thesis program given by the Faculty of Law, general law in other words. I was initially interested in the thesis option, but on the non-thesis one you get a lot more courses. What about you? And where are u from by the way?

The only applicants I 'know' are in this forum. On the other hand, I believe it´s too early to say who is out of McGill. Some accepted students may decline the offer and that will give room for the waiting list. Thus, there is still a long way to go up 2009 fall...

Hi pritt, I agree with lek. I believe they will let applicants know if they were accepted or rejected at the same time. Those who did not receive the "you've been reccomended" e-mail should not desperate either, since when I contacted the faculty they told me that sometimes applicants only receive the admission letter.

Thanks for your replies. Actually, I really need to know if I'm accepted or not because I have to plan my internship in Summer/Fall... Maybe I should call the Faculty next week...? People who are sure not to attend the LL.M. at McGill should cancel their offer as soon as possible :D

In the first case, I believe that once they send you the acceptance letter, they also let you know if you have been awarded with a scholarship, so I think those who did not receive any help will probably cancel their offer pretty soon. Those who are evaluating more than one option, may depend on the confirmation of other universities, so that might take longer.

Anyway, I do believe that we will have news before the end of the month. You can start planning and then see what happens.

I´ve just seen my application status on Minerva and it indicates that I´ve been admitted. I haven´t received the official letter though and I´m not very optimistic about getting a scholarship/fellowship... Let´s see....
