Allen, there already is a thread about durham. I do not know much about Bristol and Manchester. I have been to Manchester once, and the city was not too bad. Did you check the law school rankings?

Dear Russ:Sun Jan 30, 2005 03:30 AM Thanks for your reply, I’ve checked the ranking for both law school and overall. Manchester as a city is quite famous, but the university itself maybe a not top one in UK. Bristol enjoys a not so high ranking in terms of law subject when compares with Durham university, since Durham law school viewed as the best after Oxbridge when it comes to overall reputation and law school is so well-known. But Bristol is the most preferred university when you want to find a job in UK firms. The thing is Durham law school weighs its interest heavily on EU law. I don’t think I like it very much and although the university in UK is very well respected, this may not necessary the case in the other country since few people ever heard of it. So that’s quite tough for me to choose. |

I think you are right when you say that many people outside the UK do not know Durham. If you plan to work in the UK, both Bristol and Durham will certainly be good chioces. Most employers in continental Europe and the US are not that familiar with British law schools, they may know Oxbrigde, King's College London, UCL and LSE, but apart from those, I think it does not really make a difference where you study.

Do you know if it is easy to find a job in the UK after a degree in international trade law from Durham?

Re: durham university llm
Since no one else seems to know something about job chances after Durham: in the guardian ranking Durham has a 5 for job prospects (out of 6), just like Cambridge, for example :-)Wed Feb 16, 2005 04:30 PM Glad for other opinions, r |
