Reciprocity
Hi,Fri May 27, 2005 01:32 PM I've been accepted at Paris 2 (1st cycle) to study law and I have been trying to find information about whether or not I can eventually practice in France. How can I find out if there is reciprocity between France and the US? |

Write an e-mail to conseil national du barreau (you'll find it on their website). But I think ther's a reciprocity, as French are allowed to practice in the US/ Good luck

Shoe04, Tue Feb 14, 2006 07:08 AM There is reciprocity for US lawyers in France. In fact, there is a reciprocity for every foreign lawyer. You have to take an exam commonly called "Article 100" (after the article which, in the Law organizing the lawyer's profession, provides for the possibility for foreign -and non-EU - lawyers to practice in France). It is not very difficult (according to my foreign colleagues who passed it, and at least not as difficult as the Bar Examination for french lawyers), you still have to work a bit though. (it's two 3-hour written exams, one 20-min oral exam and an interview with a jury). If you speak French well, it should not be a problem.
