well, i plan to move into international law primarily with the UNDP or the UNHCR. If that doesn't work i will have to become a boring banking lawyer for a firm or work in-house.Mon Mar 02, 2009 08:00 PM Also, as I am english from London I do not particularly want to study in london or cambridge but I appreciate that they are good schools. My first degree was from Durham University and I specifically chose it to get out of London. what's wrong with Boston U? |

Mon Mar 02, 2009 09:19 PM Also, as I am english from London I do not particularly want to study in london or cambridge but I appreciate that they are good schools. I understand your interest in looking away from home. That makes perfect sense. I don't know whether a Boston U LLM will have cache outside of the New England region (i.e., Boston area) of the U.S. Might be worth calling the school and asking if you could speak with a couple of alumni who work in the human rights field; those alumni could probably give you some insight into the viability of entry into that field with a Boston U LLM. Boston is a great city, and I know you would love your time there. Remember, though, not to bring any tea with you, lest it forcefully be taken from you and thrown into Boston Harbor. Those Bostonians have long memories. Finally, I doubt you will become a boring banking lawyer -- Those jobs seem to be falling off a cliff lately, at least in the U.S. However, the bank-ruptcy lawyers certainly are doing unbelievably well right now. I'm not sure there will be any banks left if they continue to plummet as they have been doing lately. |

Do you know if one can accept an offer in a university, say Queen Mary, and then cancel such acceptance once the Oxbridge offer arrives? Or is acceptance like marriage?
