I've got admitted to both programs. I understand the two programs focus on different subjects, one in Law and Economics and the other Int'l Trade and Finance. However, besides this difference, could anyone provide insights on ups and downs for either program?

Information about EMTTLF is especially limited on this board - is it because the program is relatively new?

Thanks!

I appied for the LLM in Finance offered by the ILF, and unfortunately I have been put in a waiting list. I can not consider it as a bad new but by no means as a good new. Let’s see... What about you gentlemen? Have you already been accepted? Cheers.

Where is my LLM?: EMLE vs. EMTTLF

I ve been admitted to EMTTLF (with specialization at IFL Frankfurt and with Erasmus scholarship), but have been denied to EMLE.
I realy do nor know what to do, since I work with finance law and LLMs at USA universities are more recognized to such area. I apply to some USA universities, but have been admitted only at Duke until now. No scholarships, but I trying to be sponsored by the company where I work.
What you guys would do in my place?
best regards!!

I would surely accept Duke. It is an incredible university and its LLM program is regared in the entire world. I have some friends that have taken Duke and they have just loved it... everything about it. The city, the college spirit and, of course, the LLM itself. All of them got offers from top law firms in the US and abroad and doing fine!! Besides that the LLM of Duke is a 1 year program, while the EMTTLF is a 2 year program... that makes the whole difference regarding beeing placed back in the "job market"... I would certainly attend Duke... the extra $$ that you will spend are totally worth it!!!

Hi Imilanez, as I said I have been put in a waiting list. That's very bad but let's see If I am accepted.
I am from Barcelona (Spain) and currently I am working as a visiting lawyer at Fox Mandal Little which it's a top indian international law firm very active in cross-border transactions. The problem it's that the ILF told me that till May I will not be able to know whether I have been accepted or not.

lmilanez, seems like since we have not received any messages from them, we have not received EM scholarship :(. On the their website it is stated that successfull candidates will be punctually contacted. And now they do not answer any letters concerning application status. Meanwhile, in the letter of acknowledgement of documents receipt they wrote that we would keep you informed about your application status. Don't know what to think.

For the EMTTLF (with a second year in ILF), I got a sense that it really is a combination of the Deusto/Tilburg one year LLM of In't Business Law (http://www.transnational.deusto.es/academic/#llm) and the ILF LLM, with possibily a slight modification. Both programs are quite good though.

Hello,
I'm the very same situation as the guy just above me. I applied within the May 31st. deadline and haven't heard anything yet. ¿Has anyone been admitted so far?

It seems to me, based on what I`m reading here, that they simply keep you in the dark and contact only the succesful candidates. I know it's only been 12 days, but whether good or bad, I do need to know their decision for the sake of my funders and also to think about a Plan B!

Hi guys!

I would like to apply to EMTTLF this fall for 2010-2012 class as an Erasmus student, but I will get my bachelor’s degree only in June 2010. Yet I can provide a proof from my university that I will have completed my studies and received my degree by that time. I’ve already got a relevant work experience in the investment bank. Do you think I am eligible to apply this year?

@ Valerie: yes, you're perfectly eligible. Upon admission, you'll have to be graduated though. I am in the same situation.

@ Manishkapoor and everyone else arouund: I just talked on the phone with Deusto because I needed to confirm (for my funder's sake) that I was out. Big big big surprise: even though it's already the 22 of July, the haven't met a decision yet! So hang in there! The also told me that in spite of the website telling you not to do it, you are encouraged to call them to inquire about your application status.

They are admitting only 4-5 people - the other 20 or so were admitted in February. So good luck, don't give up. I'd already given up any hope and nearly my scholarship...
