No, I guess Lionel Hutz its right! In the main page of MIDS website says: "News: Applications for the 2009-2010 program now open" and if you click there it is explained that, despite of the original dealine -January 30th- "The Admissions Office may consider late applications". This is a great news since, after talking with some people, this is THE PROGRAM to do if you want to pursue an international arbitration career, so I will send my application in these days (fortunately it is possible to send all by e-mail)!

do you think it will be also possible to send late applications to Stockholm for their master in international arbitration? Which program is best? Stockholm or Geneva?

Hi antani, I think the deadline for Stockholm is over! Actually, the deadline for Geneva was over too, but fortunately they opened it again. Perhaps Stocjholm does the same, you should write them asking.

Regardign which is the best, its difficult to say. Stockholm is a very well known universtiy in arbitration, and its master has a few years. On the contrary, Geneva has a new program so its not as famous as Stockholm YET. I said YET because I talked with a lot of people connected to arbitration and all told me that Geneva has the best arbitration professors of the world (from the US, Europe, Asia, etc.), the syllabus of the program seems to be more complete than the Stockholm one, and Geneva has a lot of international organizations located there.

Hi Friends,

I am from India and planning to apply for next year to Sweden. I want to know what factors are critical to get scholarships (if any) for living expenses (I heard there is no tuition) and what is the usual monthly expenses (for both single and for two). And also if my wife joins me whether she can do part time jobs (legally) off campus. Thanks a lot for your time and effort.

Regards,
John

maybe it's not my turn thistime.
 although we don't know anything about MRs, I don;t think taking MR 1971 is good while others taking 9999.

I got the same message.
I think its about the program, not about the chance of approved.
However, somehow I don't really suppose to be approved actually.

Hope to see you there,

Best of luck.

Hi everyone!

I am interested in the Master in International Commercial Arbitration in Sweden and was wondering how much the program costs in US dollars? Also are there any special recommendations that one needs to apply? I have already graduated from law school in the states and will be sitting for the bar exam so I can be licensed to practice in the states. I think all you need is a degree from a law school. If someone could get back to me. My email is: ewelinamroczka@yahoo.com

Thanks!

As I wrote in another discussion I don't agree. I would say that the Stockholm programme is way better than the Geneva one for a number of reasons:

(i) it is 8-year old, while the MIDS is new and, as such, a question mark;

(ii) it focuses on "international commercial arbitration", while with MIDS you are forced to study remotely-related subjects like International Trade or stuff like that;

(iii) the seriousness of the ICAL derives also from the fact that it is not customizable; you want to learn arbitration? This is it, everyone will get the same level of preparation;

(iv) the professors at Stockholm are exclusively dedicated to commercial arbitration while at MIDS you have about 30 speakers and you don't really know who your reference is;

(v) the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce administers more international commercial arbitration cases than Geneva;

(vi) it will allow you to work part-time during the second semester;

(vii) it will save you about 17,000 EURO!

(viii) it is MUCH more selective, also as a result of (i) and (vii) above;

And so on.

Hi,

I'm an American J.D. student currently on exchange in Copenhagen. My focus is ICA and I would like to apply for the LLM in Stockholm for 2010-2011 (this site has been great for helping me figure out where to apply).

I would like to know how any of you are finding the program. I will take a trip up by year's end to see Stockholm, but am eager to hear some feedback on the curriculum if you have a moment.

Thanks in advance!
