University of Dundee-CEPMLP
hallo everyone,Tue Jun 21, 2005 04:46 PM i am an international Business (energy and environmental law) graduate and was searching for a Master in Law as Postgraduate study. I'm interested in the Centre for Energy Petroleoum & Mineral Law and Policy (Dundee University) postgraduate programs. Does anyone know something about the university or the CEPMLP programs? Is it good? |

I cant you from personal experience but it sounds great! In the first week they teach you geology and many other interesting stuff and then you get true specialization in energy matters... You should be ready to work somewhere in UK or even Moscow, generally somewhere where energy has a market! I had discussed this with a lawyer who was really thrilled with the idea but the money is too much...Wed Jun 22, 2005 11:17 AM Just keep in mind that all the other LLM programs are pretty much the same and you dont actually get that much particular knowledge. This program seems to be a unique chance. But it only my personal opinion, if you could find someone who has actually been there that would be great. Good luck! |

I just found out about this www.Sun Aug 19, 2007 12:16 PM I am currently about to finish the double degree in Oil and Gas Management (MBA) and Petroleum Law and Policy at the CEPMLP. ... an additional advantage of the CEPMLP is that once you graduate you can apply for the Scottish Fresh Talentn Scheme which is an automatic two-year working visa allowance for those graduated in Scottish Univs. This facilitates the remain in Scotland for those aiming to a further international working experience. good luck! |

I am a french student, gonna get a master and then wanna join an LLM oil and gas law programme. It is always possible. Your french skills will attract interest from Canadian and other companies operations or developing markets in north africa. An energy lawyer can make very good money in the Scotland or even London. It is not necessary to be qualified -not easy though- to find a job in Scotland (take a look at The Scottish Fresh Talent Program). In other countries... it will always depend on the market's demand and weather if you are aiming to private or in-house practice.Tue Sep 11, 2007 11:21 AM I suggest you carry out a Cost Benefit Appraisal of the Oil and Gas LLMs of Dundee, Robert Gordon and Aberdeen Uni's to find out which fits you better. If the choice is between UoD CEPMLP and the other universities mentioned and in Energy studies specifically, please note the following:Wed Sep 12, 2007 02:22 AM 1) Dundee has a center specially dedicated to to oil, gas, energy and mineral studies and you have the benefit of a strong faculty drawn from different disciplines ranging from geology to law. There is in addition a global faculty drawn from all over the world. 2) As far as I know Dundee is most reknown IN THIS AREA of the schools you mentioned. 3) As per your personal situation, there is an agreement currently with the I.F.P in Paris and being from France you will occupy a unique position among the divers student population. Finally, with regard to a social life, all the schools mentioned are in blind places socially speaking, but Dundeee is the one eyed King..... |

I know that dundee is THE faculty for energy but the LLM fees are so expensive!!Wed Sep 12, 2007 11:09 AM I mean aberdeen LLM 3000 pound --- Dundee 10 000 3 times more expensive and I am not sure that the programmes are very different! Are there some financial help for international students?! Is there any web site with former students. I would like to get more informations about the jobs, salaries.. thanks |

Graduates of the LLM programme move on to be practising lawyers, legal advisers, contract managers and negotiators in the oil and gas sector.
