No word yet for me at least. Somewhat surprised as I've heard from every other school I applied to. Perhaps the strike earlier this year has slowed the process.

Good luck!

Dear Beta,

I have not any decision results from the universities I applied till now. Considering the commercial center of Canada, I am wondering which is the best university to go in Toronto, Osgoode or UoT? Although Osgoode is better for its business law, considering the university reputation, I do not know whether it could compete with UoT? Thanks.

I actually only applied to Osgoode in Canada, as I did my first law degree at UofT. I think you'd do well going to either school for an LLM, although I suspect that Osgoode has a better funding system. UofT is in a much better location in the city, though, and has a very strong reputation.

I am glad for your quick response. Would you please kindly let me know your first law degree of UoT? Is it LLB? I am also desiring funding aid but I do not know whether Osgoode would provide it due to the financial crisis this year. According to your introduction, I think if I could get two offers from the above universities without money, I should go to UoT. Thanks.

Dear Beta,

I also applied Queens, do you know more about the comparison between Osgoode and Queens? I heard that there are lots of students in Osgoode LLM which is called big class but I am not sure about Queens.

Sorry, I don't know much about Queen's law program. Kingston is a nice small city, but that's about all I can say.

Hi

I just rec'd an offer for the thesis stream at Osgoode with at least a $10,000 scholarship. Apparently it is contingent on whether I am allocated an external scholarship worth more than the internal scholarship, at which the university will withdraw their funding but supplement an additional $4000.

Hope this helps. However, im unsure as to whether I will accept.

Dear Nibor,

I also got an offer of business law for international students from Osgoode but not any financial awards. I do not find the thesis or non-thesis stream selection in their LLM program and hope we are talking about the same project. I am also wondering whether to accept it.

Hi

Just to clarify, I meant research stream LLM. Which, I believe, is a different program altogether from the LLM in Business Law for international students.

Did you apply to U of T? and if so, did you receive a response?

Hope this helps.

Nibor,

Thanks for your clarification. Is your applied research stream LLM a part-time program? I only find one full-time LLM program from Osgoode which is just for International Students. BTW, I am also waiting for response of UoT.

I just received a positive response for U of T, Have you rec'd yours?

What will you decide?

Hi, Nibor,

I am clear about Osgoode now. My offer is for International students which is course stream. BTW, I also received the offer from UoT but have not got the formal notice by post. I prefer to UoT. How about you?

Hi Elle, just to clarify are you on the Osgoode professional LLM? It would be good to hear more about that programme - teaching, standards cf. to the LLB/JD, LLM courses in the UK etc.

Maybe I can PM you?

Thanks Elle for the info..

also do you think there is any value of this said course..as in market value.you must be applying for a job right now..so where do you stand.
AS far as i found out osgoode has a great band name in canada,so dont you think the course from osgoode would hold a brand value...

Hello Everyone,

I just stumbled upon this site. I just accepted my LLM offer to Osgoode, and I got a funding offer, but they didn't mention how much tuition actually is, and I can't seem to find it anywhere on the website! Does anyone know off hand?
In response to Rohan's question, I plan on applying to work for the DOJ or Department of Finance or CRA, because I'm doing a thesis in tax / fiscal policy. I am also considering teaching eventually.
I am confused about the courses that we are supposed to take in the fall - is it just two courses? And can they be any upper year courses?
I am looking forward to going back to Osgoode (did my LLB there). Hope to meet you then!
Moira

Oh and PS,
I am not in the International program, that may be different, if so, don't worry about my questions. Im pretty sure OPD is not running my courses.

Thanks
